| ofcourse it's similar. english is from the same language group. anglo-saxons from what is now germany (settling in england when the romans left), and vikings (same nordic language group). obviously the french speakers left their mark on the language with the norman invasion, but they were essentially vikings too by descent.

| i liked it when it was used in Scrubs. It was used in 1 episode (one of the ones with Amy Smart as the tasty coma wife). | I don't know how old Nena is. This is also my fav song from the 80's, and my 2nd fav song.
Also, about the 3 versions thing. Nena did the original, both in english and greman, and then Goldfinger did the english version, just with a verse in german, just to clear everything up.

I've also heard an "disco/pop/techno"-version (don't know what gender it really fits into) of this song... I believe the artist is called Donn Ah,but I'll check that out closer soon. It's found on an old Norwegian song-collection. (pink and yellow cover/case with an pig on it)

Nena's 42 years old (but very attractive for her age tough  ), has 4 children (actually 5 but one died at very young age at a mental illness). Nena did the orginal (which I think is still the best !) And the song's actually an anti-war song ; about the Berlin Wall, and her view as a child about it... In reality as a child Nena REALLY hated the fustrations between East & West... So she made a song at later age about ballons... Which is actually a legend : East saw red ballons fly over the wall, and tought that West was attacking them, so they get out all their forces only to find out that it were ballons...
