Who, in their life, who has not wanted to be a rockstar?? in all reality, everyone out there DREAMS of the life of rock bands, especially now-a-days, when these bands are making millions of dollars off of one song that might (and sometimes dont even) hit number one.... think about it, i'll bet the guys Finger Eleven or Blue October, or even older band like Blues Traveler and Gin Blossoms are MILLIONAIRES... WHO DOESN'T WANT THE LIFE OF A MILLIONAIRE? That is all Chad Kroeger is saying... he is merely asking, in not so many words, Who does not want to be a rockstar, for all the amazing perks that come along with the job??? Granted, i have read "The Dirt" by Motley Crue, it is not all glitz and glamor, but whats the point in out modern day rock bands if not for the idea of the classic 80's hair metal debauchery?? So, for all you guys who down nickleback for this song... My personal opinion is this: Although not a complicated rock song with crazy riffs and a range of vocals, Nickleback decided to create a simple song, with a simple truth... Who wouldn't give up the life they have for the life of a rockstar, with the freedom of having more money than one would know what to do with, and the ability to do whatever one wanted, whenever one wanted... THIS IS MY PERSONAL OPINION, BUST MY ASS AS MUCH AS YOU'D LIKE, BUT IT IS MY PERSONAL BELIEF. I'm not saying this is one of the all-time greats (umm Led Zep would never write a song like this... hehe) but i am saying LYRICALLY this is a DECENT song, just a man asking questions of his fellow man, hoping someone out there feels the same way.... by they way, this record sold enough albums, i'm pretty sure it answered Chad Kroegers question of who else in the world would dream of being a rockstar... |
