Maybe in another life
I could find you there
Pulled away before your time
I can't deal it's so unfair
And it feels
Yeah it feels like
heaven's so far away
And it feels
Yeah it feels like
the world has grown cold
Now that you've gone away
Leaving flowers on your grave
Show that I still care
(But) black roses and hail marys
Can't bring back what's taken from me
I reach to the sky
And call out your name
and if I could trade
I would
And it feels
And it feels like
Heaven's so far away
And it stings
Yeah it stings now
(The) world is so cold
Now that you've gone away
Gone away, gone away, yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Ouuhhh, ouhhh, ouhh yeah
I reach to the sky
And call out your name
oh please let me trade
I would
And it feels
And it feels like
Heaven's so far away
And it feels
Yeah it feels like
(The) world is so cold
Now that you've gone away
GoneaAway, gone away, yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Ouuhhh, ouhhh, ouhh ohh oh yeah

vocal Oooh.. yeah. This is one of my favorite Offspring songs, too. The first time I heard it all the way through I was all, "OMGZZZZ I LOVE THIS SONG!!11!1!1!!1" and I ended up forgetting my binder on the bus. (I was listening to it on the bus.)
Anyway.
The Offspring are GENIUSES. This song makes my jaw drop every time I hear it. Because I'm just so cool and not obsesssive.

vocal This song is about Kevin Wasserman's daughter. She died when she was six, and he and Dexter Holland wrote it at a tribute. The ironic thing is, this song wasn't originally going to be released, but they needed one more track for Ixnay, and this was it. It turned out to be one of their first crossover hits.

vocal Zombie you are incorrect, Dexter and Noodles (Kevin Wasserman) never said who it was for, the main rumours are Dexters wife or Dexters daughter who died young. These are rumours and if anyone says their statement is true its not...

vocal Ive always read that it was Dexters daughter. She died on the same day that my best friend was born. March 10th 1988. I havnt read about it in years, so I may have a rusty memory, but I think that was the case. She died in a car accident, if I remember. Of course the sites I read it from may have just been assuming it was for Dexter's daughter. But she did die around that time.
In other news, this IS The Offsprings best song. I cant hear it without tearing up or at least getting goose bumps.
Its a terrible thing, to lose a child. I dont know from experience, but I imagine it must be the worst feeling in the entire world. "No parent should have to bury thier child" said King Theoden

vocal Aw man, when I heard this song for the first time, I cried for hours. It must be the most emotional song Offspring ever did. This was around the time where I was all suicidal, and I was about ready to shoot myself when I heard this song. It made me understand that it wasn't worth it. I have Dexter and the other guys to thank for my life.

vocal The Offspring is just another college-band, or so I used to think. Until I'd stumbled over this song.
The rhythm i the song is really good, and the lyrics did hit me.
Recently one of my friends died in a car accident, and the loss is heavy.
They say that music can if not cure, at least make the pain somewhat lighter to bear inside.
I agree with the singer in the text, and if I was able to switch with her, so that she could live.
The sorrow is heavy, and the tears are if not many, they are hard to keep back.
And it feels like heaven has gone away.
This song is and will truly one of the best songs ever. Period.
From a heart of sorrow and pain, and a mind full of nice memorys.

what an awesome song. the lyrics are touching as i think most people would relate to losing somebody close and just going through a period of time where it just feels as though it isnt fair. i cried when i listened to this for liek the millionth time.

vocal no matter how i think of this song it will always remind me of my brother and how it felt losing him way way before his time he was only a baby but hey everything happens for a reason even if it makes no sense and makes us feel so terrible.
there are so many songs by offspring that just make so much sense to me especially self-esteem and kids aren't alright
