Early Reviews Hail Impressive Debut Album – Three Years in the Making - As "A New Classic!"

Old Sand Mill's debut album, "The World Is Getting Colder" has just been released by SHP Records/Brain Muscle Media/Universal Music and BMI Music International. The CD hits retail stores this Summer, but is now available on-line for downloads and pre-release purchases, on all major internet store links – iTunes, Amazon Music, Google Music, Reverb Nation, etc.

Old Sand Mill is primarily made up of Lead Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist/Harpist/Percussionist,
Chip Miller, a successful LA Filmmaker/Screenwriter/award-winning MTV, VH-1, CMT, and BET Music Video Director, and Visual Artist. His writing partner and band mate, Janaki Jennings, is a multi-talented Composer, Musician, Video Editor, and Sound Mixer. New band member, drummer and bassist Josh Rizzo, is the son of noted Palm Springs Orchestra Leader Pat Rizzo –an original member of Sly & The Family Stone and former sax player for War.

After three years in the making, with recording sessions in London, Nashville, Vancouver, NYC, and LA, and playing with an amazing array of guest artists, Old Sand Mill finally completed their first full-length album for a 2012 release. Chip, originally from New Jersey, and Janaki, a native of the Joshua Tree Desert, both opted to take an old school, almost analog-like mixing and mastering approach to their music and arrangements. The result is stunning.

In addition, Chip called on some famous musical friends he's worked with, luring an admirable collection of guest artists and players like Darryl Jones (The Rolling Stones), Jerry Douglas (Alison Krauss & Union Station), the legendary Brian Wilson (The Beach Boys), Grammy winner r&b diva Deniece Williams, Concrete Blonde's Earle Mankey, Rick Boston (Low Pop Suicide, The Januaries), Gabe Witcher (Beck, Van Morrison, Steve Martin's Steep Canyon Rangers), Karl Preusser (The String Quartet), David Maynard (Pomeroy, Gladys Knight & The Pips), the late Howie Wyeth (Bob Dylan, Jackson Brown), and The Vancouver Philharmonic Orchestra.

Old Sand Mill's amazing and ambitious new album, "The World Is Getting Colder," – already has fans and critics calling it "a new classic." Chip, Janaki, and Josh, ask that you check out their debut CD now! And they're reaching out to all their many fans, friends, families, and creative associates, as well as to their over 42,000 net fans - to give Old Sand Mill a listen. Here's what fans, critics, radio DJ's, and celebrity listeners are saying:

"If you dig Crosby, Stills & Nash, Donovan, Yes, Pink Floyd, The Beach Boys, and Simon & Garfunkel, with a dash of Beck and Radiohead, then you will dig Old Sand Mill's debut work, 'The World Is Getting Colder.' This well-produced album pays homage to a wide range of classic and contemporary influences and dares to move effortlessly from one genre to another, with fun and intriguing original tunes penned by singer/songwriter and longtime film and music video director Chip Miller, along with his decades younger band mate, Janaki, a multi-talented musician/composer. They're joined by some incredible, well-known backing musicians, and numerous guests like the iconic Brian Wilson, multi-Grammy winner Jerry Douglas of Alison Krauss & Union Station, Darryl Jones of The Rolling Stones, r&b legend Deneice Williams, the Vancouver Philharmonic Orchestra, and many more. This one's worth the journey. It's like going to the movies through music." – Iain Stewart (The British Music Connection)

"Old Sand Mill is an outside-the-grid band dashing out the starting gate with a bloody "Sergeant Pepper! And yours truly, proudly broke this jewel in the UK!" – Roy Wetton (Millside Radio Network/British Radio Personality, Manchester, UK)

"I open the mail every day at the radio station waiting for that unexpected gem to drop in my lap. Old Sand Mill's new disc is just such a beauty! I've made my way through it at least six times, and I'm just now starting to hear all that's going on. This band chooses swimming upstream and doing it their own way. Hey, anyone that works in Brian Wilson, Jerry Douglas, and Daryl Jones, in a meaningful way, wins big brownie points in my book! I was very impressed – a ton of talent on this CD!" - Ray White (KDFC/legendary National Radio Personality, San Francisco, CA)

"SHP Records' intriguing new artist, Old Sand Mill, an alternative folk rock, Brit-influenced band comprised of Coachella Valley songwriters/musicians Chip Miller and Janaki, has made an impressive debut with their ambitious and beautiful new album, 'The World Is Getting Colder.' The songs are catchy, edgy, hypnotic, psychedlic, silly, deep, spiritual, haunting, sad, happy, scary, full of warning, loss, and in the end – a bittersweet hope for peace and love. Perhaps we need more John Lennon and Gandhi in this cold new technological world of isolation and disconnect." – Phillip Kauffman (Billboard International Music Capsule)

"The vocals and songs are all a treat. I had such a blast playing on this album!" - Jerry Douglas (multiple Grammy winning musician/songwriter/member of Alison Krauss & Union Station; won numerous Country & Bluegrass awards & CMA's "'Best Musician of the Year")

"I have worked with Chip as a filmmaker, so I was totally taken aback after hearing this incredible musical journey his band took me on." Nicolas Cage (Oscar-winning actor and film producer)

"I heard the final mixes while on tour with Mick, Charlie, Keith, and the band. I was blown away by the music, especially the vocals." - Darryl Jones (20-year bassist for The Rolling Stones and played with Sting, Madonna, and Miles David)

"It's amazingly good!" - Jimmy Buff (WDST Radio Personality, Woodstock, NY)

"A very difficult record to describe. I hear a diverse array of influences here, Wilco, Sparklehorse, Sigor Ros, Gram Parsons, even Bowie. You can literally get lost in these songs. Having covered Bonnaroo Fest for years, I can tell you, Old Sand Mill would definitely find an audience there. "The World Is Getting Colder" is a unique musical experience. Records like this don't come along very often." - Bob Waugh (Program Director/WRNR Radio, Annapolis, MD)
"A cool vibe – from the first track to the last. Sets a nice groove with solid vocals" - Jim "Fitz" Fitzgerald (KJJZ FM/National Radio Personality, Palm Springs, CA)

"Beautiful arrangements and first-class harmonies. It was really fun to be involved with Chip and his band." - Deniece Williams (Grammy Award-winning, r&b and Gospel singing icon/former member of Stevie Wonder's Wonderlove)

"An incredible work, lads! Cheers!" - Liam Neeson (Irish Oscar-winning actor/friend)

"I've been listening to this CD in my car, over and over again. The Riz Loves it! I get colors and great vibes. 'River, River' track really speaks to me!" – Pat Rizzo (Palm Springs Orchestra Leader & original member of Sly & The Family Stone/former member of War)

"Wonderful arrangements and solid songwriting." - Gino Vannelli (Grammy Award winning/best-selling international pop star & songwriter)

"I can hear all their influences throughout the CD – Beatles, Donovan, Traffic, Moody Blues, and of course, The Beach Boys." - Mike Love (multiple Grammy Award winner/Lead singer/songwriter/co-founder of The Beach Boys)

"Chip sounds much, much better than (Mike) Love does these days!! The CD is great. Really dig The Beach Boys cover track. And I love 'Too Much Sun.'" - Alan Boyd (The Beach Boys singer/musician/writing collaborator with Brian Wilson, Mike Love & Al Jardine)

"Old Sand Mill - I liked the name from the first day I heard it. And after listening to their great songs, I definitely think this band is a future classic! They are magical! - Fred Sherman (Music Executive/SHP Records/Brain Muscle Media)
