8 years after Trampin', Patti Smith is back. In June, she'll release Banga, a new original album that'll be the follow-up of Twelve, her cover album. Columbia/Sony Music will release 3 formats : standard, deluxe & LP. The first single "April Fool" will be sent to radios. We don't know anything about the album yet, except that there'll be a tribute song to Amy Winehouse. The singer said that the lyrics came easily : "The song for Amy came up in one shot in studio. We were at Electric Lady Studios (recording studio in New York), finishing another song when she died. I wrote a little poem for Amy. My bassist Tony Shanahan found a melody & the two got perfectly together. We have really written a beautiful song." "Because The Night" singer will present her album to media. The 65-year-old singer will start her worldwide tour this summer. No French date has been announced yet. The punk idol recently performed at Paris' Olympia & Saint-Eustache church. In the communiqué, Sony said that even if the singer has written few original songs in 10 years, she remains active : "She had an exhibition at the Fondation Cartier, played a role as a lead author in "Libération", performed at Saint-Eustache & released a book named "Just Kids", that received the National Book Award for non-fiction in 2010."
