| Song lyrics |
Oh where, oh where can my baby be?
The Lord took her away from me.
She's gone to heaven, so I've got to be good,
So I can see my baby when I leave this world.
We were out on a date in my daddy's car,
we hadn't driven very far.
There in the road, straight ahead,
a car was stalled, the engine was dead.
I couldn't stop, so I swerved to the right.
I'll never forget, the sound that night--
the screamin tires, the bustin glass,
the painful scream that I-- heard last.
Oh where, oh where can my baby be?
The Lord took her away from me.
She's gone to heaven, so I've got to be good,
So I can see my baby when I leave this world.
When I woke up, the rain was pourin down.
There were people standin all around.
Somethin warm runnin through my eyes,
but somehow I found my baby that night.
I lifted her head, she looked at me and said,
Hold me darlin just a little while.
I held her close, I kissed her--our last kiss.
I found the love that i knew i would miss
well now she's gone, even though I hold her tight
I lost my love, my life - that night.
Oh where, oh where can my baby be?
The Lord took her away from me.
She's gone to heaven so I've got to be good,
So I can see my baby when I leave this world.
mmmm..........
uhohhhhhhhhhhhh............

| Finally some people who like Pearl Jam!
This is indeed a great song, Vedder's voice is in "top gear" there, and that's great. The music is also fantastic.
Overall, this is may not be their best, but this is a really good one and played with very good taste - lyrically, musically and singingly.
Btw, KL, hope you don't mind me adding you to my AIM (I'm AManManDuck)

| The first time I heard this song was in Michigan about well, i was 12. It was late at night while we were all sitting around the campfire. It's been stuck in my head ever since. It's a really great song and I always get a little choked up. | 18-08-2004 10:20 Call_Me_Oz | 5 posts

This song is heartbreaking, imagine to be in that guy`s place. With nothing to do, just feeling powerless, end only yourself to blame. The girl you love is gone forever and you`re hoping for the earth to swallow you. It makes you think that life is a fragile thing. One of the darkest songs I`ve ever heard. And it`s so bizarre with the feeling of sugar-coated music of the 60-ies. | 11-01-2005 17:53 meggie1 | 1 posts

Holy cow. I didn't think even this many people really knew about this song. I remember I used to listen to this song EVERYTIME I got in the car to go somewhere, and then I would take it out of the car and listen to it in my room. My mom got so sick of the song, she took it away from me. But I heard this song the other day out of nowhere, and I was like omg! And I started crying. I was like, holy crap. I didn't even think of it liek when it happened, but I started crying because my best friend had just gotten in a car crash..and it reminded me of her.. Other than that. I think this is definitly one of the best songs. |
