| Song lyrics |
Know a man, his face seemed pulled and tense
Like he's riding, on a motorbike in the strongest winds
So I approach with tact, suggest that he should relax
But he's always moving much too fast
Said he'll see me on the flipside
On this trip he's taken for a ride
He's been taking too much on
There he goes with his perfectly unkept clothes
There he goes
He's yet to come back, but I've seen his picture
It doesn't look the same up on the rack
We go way back
And I wonder bout his insides
Its like his thoughts are too big for his size
He's been taken, where I don't know
There he goes with his perfectly unkept hope
There he goes
And now I rub my eyes, for he has returned
Seems my preconceptions are what, should've been burned
For he still smiles, and he's still strong
Nothing's changed but the surrounding bullshit, that has grown
And now he's home, and we're laughing
Like we always did my same old, same old friend
Until a quarter to ten
I saw the strain creep in
He seems distracted and I know just what is going to happen next
Before his first step, He's off again

This song is the best one of all the songs that I`ve ever heard, in terms of describing myself. Eddie has got it really well put down on the paper, he truly is a lyrical genious. Also it kind of reminds me of one another lyrical prophet, Bob Dylan, but mostly the instrumental part. I`ve realised that Vedder could, if he wanted to, make a great solo career, but the fact that he refuses to sell out his band makes him even greater. There aren`t a lot of bands that truly make one`s day better and Pearl Jam is without a doubt one of the most bold and sincere bands in this Hall of Fame.
"All that's sacred comes from youth
Dedication, naive and true
With no power, nothing to do
I still remember,
why don't you...don't you..."

I would have to agree with you all. It's a very underated song of theirs; not really up there with black and jeremy...but it should be, what a chill tune! PJ Rocks like no other! | 13-02-2005 12:09 Nacilme | 472 posts

This song is awesome, one of the best of all time. Wasn't heard by enough people though to become really popular. |
