yeah i love this song...and aaron lewis' version too. but one question, i think that this one is right, but i'm not sure. this one says "i'll know you'll be the sun in somebody else's sky" and that's what it sounds like. but on a bunch of other websites it says "i'll know you'll be a star in somebody else's skies" so i really don't know. help me out peeps! <3 |

Oh man!!!! This song c´est trés belle!!! once upon a time I was with my girl in a tribute to Pearl jam, here in brazil, and when the singer sang this song she said to me: " I Love You" I don´t no why, but I answered her the same thing. And it was true...I love black!!!! |

Eddie vedder is a master at metaphorically detailing emotions. He's definitely one of the best rock lyricists of all time. "Black" is one of the best songs ever recorded, no doubt.  |

This is , while not my favourite, the best song they have written, the closing verse is one of the most emotionally painfull things I have ever listened to. is it just me or does the remix on rearveiwmirror seem to simplify the song?
Freekaleekgirl the answer to you question is that the line is "star" not "sun", its a common mistake and most people argue on it but its definately "star"

This is easily Pearl Jam's best song and definitely my favourite songs of all time. It's just one of those songs that is so great that there are no words to sum it up. Beautiful, wonderful, awesome, great, superb, amazing - it would take all of those words and alot more to give it a full summary.
* offtopic :
My favourite four songs of all time are Black by Pearl Jam, Would by Alice in Chains, Interstate Love Song by Stone Temple Pilots and The Day I Tried To Live by Soundgarden. I think anyone who enjoyed Black should have a listen to those other songs I mentioned (Unless you already have)
