| Song lyrics |
Daddy's flown across the ocean
Leaving just a memory
Snapshot in the family album
Daddy what else did you leave for me?
Daddy, what'd'ja leave behind for me?!?
All in all it was just a brick in the wall
All in all it was all just bricks in the wall
"You! Yes, you! Stand still laddy!"

Because it's a concept album. Pink Floyd are basically playing around with the 70's conception of schools. The song diving parts one and two is entitled "The Happiest Days of Our Lives" and is one of the best bits of the song. It's all done for a very good reason, it makes you think about what they're actually trying to communicate through the song. | 22-11-2005 18:47 cjt17 | 12 posts

the first brick is the best. its my favoriite out of all the three bricks. [i}daddys flown across the ocean leaving just a memory[/i]. I mean, poor protagonist., lost his father im a war... from there he starts building up his psychological wall. mother comes in and "help[s] [him] build his wall." then comes school (part 2), and finaly the life as a rockstar (part 3) - it all fits.
And oh yeah, thats why they are put in parts. it would be too long if it was just one song. | 18-01-2006 02:22 bja77 | 952 posts

Pink says "daddys flown cross the ocean", which mean he would have had to live in America but in Young lust at the end of the song he calls his wife and she is living in Britian and also Goodbye blue sky he sings about being there for the Bombing of london, so he must have grew up in Britian but it doesnt work because his daddy flew across the ocean and there was no ocean to fly across if they lived in britian | 22-05-2006 21:26 RFROX | 603 posts
