Sixth album in June

The band Placebo will release their sixth album on June 8, Battle Of The Sun : it will be the follow-up of Meds, released 3 years ago.

Pias France will release Placebo's new album on June 8, Battle Of The Sun, produced by the band. Brian Molko's band is back, 3 years after Meds (N°1), released in 2006.

Recorded during 3 months, co-produced by Dave Bottrill in his studio in Toronto & mixed by Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine, Smashing Pumpkins & Nine Inch Nails), this album may be the band's renewal. After having performed in stadiums in Chile, Mexico, Brazil, France & Germany in 2006/2007, Placebo nearly split : Steve Hewitt, the band's drummer since 1998, left the band & has been replaced by a 22-year-old Californian drummer, Steve Forrest. "We've been looking for someone whose enthusiasm could grow on us. Someone that would experience all the things we already knew, whose excitation could make us less tired & play like kids" Brian Molko said.

Placebo released their self-titled debut album in 1996. It was avant-garde rock with metal accents, mixed with pop melodies, like Rush or Pavlov's Dog. "Nancy Boy" confirmed the band's success. 2 years later, Without You I'm Nothing got more successful. Molko's androgynous character, confirmed by a duet with David Bowie, gave charism to his band, whose success continued with Sleeping With Ghosts in 2003. Hits have been : "The Bitter End", "Every You Every Me", "Song To Say Goodbye", "This Picture", "Twenty Years", "Protège-Moi", "Burger Queen"...

"With Battle Of The Sun, we made an album about life, leave obscurity & enter the light. Don't turn your back to obscurity, because it exists & it's essential. It's a part of what you are, but stand in the light of the sun. I'm still optimist about the future. I'm in a positive state of mind. We feel like we're alive !"

The band will perform on July 3 at Arras' Festival Main Square.
