Plies is a pretty prolific MC, and he's not slowing down at all with the release of Goon Affiliated, his fourth studio album in two years. Not only does Goon Affiliated feature the first guest rap on any of Plies' albums, but Plies also let his brother Big Gates pick the title.
First single "Becky" a mouthy tribute to mouthy tributes, seems to suggest that Goon Affiliated will showcase a kinder, gentler Plies, but "First 48," a song Plies has talked about in interviews, was inspired by tv series "The First 48," which tells the stories homocide detectives. On the track Plies says, "Everybody is a goon until they catch a case/ When the detectives get to the talking/ All that gangsta sh– fades away/ The first 10 minutes, dog, you started off straight/ Detective applied a little pressure, you turn around and break." Songs about dome and crime, what's not to love? |
