Josh Homme has got together with Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) to create a side project, Them Crooked Vultures.
The self titled album has been given KKKK by Kerrang.
"It's trite but what they do sound like is Led Zeppelin meets Queens Of The Stone Age. Led Stone Age, maybe. Queen Zeppelin. Just listen to the rollicking riffola of Gunman.
In part it's because Josh Homme's high voice is hard to disguise but his songwriting here is ascendant too. For its when Josh and John Paul collide, the latter arranging and honing the formers ideas, that this takes off.
Interestingly, the person with perhaps the lightest footstep on the album is Dave.
Supergroups can often be a half baked affair, their members too loyal to the bands they've left behind, but if their results were consistently like this, it suggests that, where monogamy is concerned, the Mormons have it about right." (Kerrang!)
