AboutRBD, the group that started a revolution in the Hispanic music industry like no other, are a Mexican pop group that derived from the Televisa produced show, "Rebelde". Alfonso Herrera, Christian Chávez, Dulce María, Maite Perroni, Christopher Uckermann, and Anahi Portilla are the members of the musical group. The group's debut single "Rebelde" was used to open up the TV show, some time later they launched their debut album of the same name as well, "Rebelde". The album was a commercial success and spawned the hits: "Rebelde", "Solo Quedate En Silencio", "Sálvame" and, "Un Poco De Tu Amor". Their first three singles went to #1, while "Un Poco De Tu Amor" peaked at #2 in Mexico, a similar success followed around the world, most notably in the United States and Brazil. Since then, they're album went Diamond in Mexico (selling over 500,000 copies).

Seeing the success, it was decided that the band would do a national tour in Mexico, the "Tour Generation RBD". All of their 35 dates sold-out, including 3 visits to Monterrey and a total full at all 6 dates at the Palacio de los Deportes (holds 22,500 people), the tour gathered more than 700,000 fans in Mexico, overall. "OCESA" (a Mexican entertainment company) released a list of the fastest selling tours of all-time in March 2005, RBD was not only in the top 5 but they were the only Mexican act to be in the top 5 as well. Soon after the Rebel fever got worst, not only in Mexico, but they visited Venezuela, Brazil, Columbia, the United States, and other countries where the group was gaining popularity. Near the end of the tour, a second album was released, "Tour Generation RBD", which gave the fans a chance to hear the same track list that was played at the group's gigs. Soon after, a DVD of the concert itself was released to enjoy the show from their homes.

RBD fans didn't have to wait long for new material as their their album and second studio album, "Nuestro Amor" was shortly released. The release caused a startling commotion in Mexico as 127,000 copies were sold in less than 7 hours since the CDs hit the shelves. This let the album not only set a record but also made the CD go Platinum in Mexico. By the end of the week, the album sold over 160,000 copies. The album then enjoyed a three week reign at the top of the Albums chart in Mexico. A week after it's release in Mexico, the album was released in the US. The album debuted at #2 but the week after peaked at #1 on the Hot Latin Albums chart on Billboard. Since then, the album has been certified Platinum for shipping more than 200,000 copies. Their first single, was the catchy title-track, "Nuestro Amor".

The song shot to #1 in Mexico, where it stayed there for four consecutive weeks. The song peaked at #2 on Billboard Hot Latin Pop Airplay chart and #6 on Billboard's Top 50 Latin Tracks and Latin Tropical Airplay chart. It was also used to promote the second season of "Rebelde". The track was followed by "Aún Hay Algo" which had success as well, peaking at #1 in Mexico in December 2005, and the song debuted at #36 on Billboard's Top 50 Latin Songs, becoming a Hot Shot Debut on early March 2006. It later peaked at #24 in April 2006. "Tras De Mi" was third single off of "Nuestro Amor", staying at #1 for 3 weeks in Mexico. A similar success has occurred with "Este Corazon" recently.

However, Spanish is not the only language that RBD has sung in. They have released a Brazilian version of "Rebelde" in Brazil. The album holds 7 songs translated into the native language. They followed suit, by releasing "Nosso Amor" (the Portuguese version of Nuestro Amor) in Brazil earlier in 2006. Both albums have hit #1 and have had major success. RBD is working more recently on an English album to break into the America, European, and Asian market. On June 2006, the third and final season of "Rebelde" ended, which means further projects for the group. They have a mini-series, movie in the works as well as an English album and more touring around Central and South America.

The RBDmania hasn't ended with discs, tours, and DVDs. There are other products including games, calendars, candy, key chains, and much more. Riding on a high note, RBD seems here to stay. The group that has sold more than 9.5 million albums around the world in less than two years, won countless of awards, and they have promised to stick around as long as they are wanted. RBD is not a mere flavor of the moment or trend, they are a group that are set to conquer the world.
