In 2006, Renaud's album Rouge Sang got a nice start, N°1 with 180,000 copies sold during the first week. After that, Renaud released Molly Malone - Balade Irlandaise (named like his son, Malone). For years, the singer hasn't hidden his tribute to Irish songs, in this album. Renaud already did it 18 years ago, with the single "La Ballade Nord-Irlandaise" (N°44 in 1992). Whereas Molly Malone sold 200,000 copies, the artist hasn't found any inspiration for the follow-up. "I don't release albums anymore because I haven't found any inspiration. I haven't written original songs for 4 years. Criticizing this world seems unfair these days. When I hear a guy like Raphaël, a nice boy who pays tribute to me, I tell myself that he's nice, but that was 30 years ago. Today, I'm 58 & I got blows in the face. I can't do it, I lost my blood. Even my 4-year-old son, who should inspire me for beautiful songs, doesn't inspire me. My wife wanted a garden for my son, she wanted to live in the suburb & me, like a j*rk, I accepted to find a house where I get down, I die little by little. [...] "But if I were in Paris, I'd be like I was 10 years ago, drinking 1 litre of Pastis a day. For some months, I've been drinking again, I drink 2 Pastis a day" he said to the magazine "Serge", recently out. All his studio LPs have been re-released on vinyl, remastered & the compilation Le Plein De Super, including the cover of Georges Brassens' "J'Ai Rendez-Vous Avec Vous", are out now. "My fans regret the vinyl, this beautiful object. But young people also like this. It was also time for me to re-launch my career" he added. Renaud Séchan is a French singer-songwriter, born on May 11, 1952 in Paris. With 23 albums & more than 15 million copies sold, Renaud is one of the most popular French-speaking singers. He uses his songs to pay tribute or criticize the society, with slang words in his lyrics. He has been nicknamed the "irritating singer", because he has been involved in human rights, ecology & antimilitarism that often appear in his songs, reactions have been said against him. Whereas he has often been contested, he's still one of the most popular French people. Renaud also played in films, like Claude Berri's "Germinal" in 1993 & Brad Mirman's "Wanted" in 2003.
