"Humorists & clowns should be taken by the State & paid back by the Security, because we are the witches, the doctors of the population" he said. His last live appearance has been in 2009, in Sadirac, Gironde. Singer Ricet Barrier died yesterday at 78 years old. Ricet Barrier, who wanted to become a sports teacher, entered the IREPS in 1952. An amateur musician, he got stung by Félix Leclerc's "Le Train Du Nord" in 1948. He played the banjo, the ukulele & the guitar. With his friend Bernard Lelou (real name Georges Weil), he wrote songs from 1955 until Lelou's death in 1990. Barrier participated to Mireille's Petit Conservatoire in 1955 & 1956. Watch the video for "Putain Le Beau Métier" live here. In the late 50's, Les Frères Jacques covered his song "Dolly 25", the first of the 21 Barrier/Lelou songs. They also covered "Rendez-Vous (Stanislas)", "Les Spermatozoïdes" & "La Marchande De Poissons". In 1958, he signed to Philips, thanks to Jacques Canetti & released his first LP La Servante Du Château. He received the Grand Prix de l'Académie du Disque. Ricet Barrier also performed children's songs on television like the bear Colargol, the duck Saturnin (he also wrote the dialogues) & the Barbapapa family (in the first season). In 2005, Ricet Barrier has been decorated "Officier Des Arts Et Des Lettres" by Culture Minister Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres. His last album Furieusement Heureux came out in 2006.
