N°1 in France

"Don't Stop The Music", sampling Manu Dibango, is N°1 in France this week. Rihanna succeeded in France where "Umbrella" failed.
"Umbrella", the previous single, was N°1 worldwide except in France, where Lemarchal, Maé, Willem & Mika were successful, and the single only went N°6. That's a repaired thing this week for Rihanna, because "Don't Stop The Music", her new single (including a sample of Manu Dibango's "Soul Makossa", also used by Michael Jackson in "Wanna Be Startin' Something" in the 80's), directly N°1 with 14,600 copies sold, and N°2 is Mélissa M. with "Elle" (N°1 for only one week & 7,900), covering... Stevie Wonder. Such originality for 2 N°1 singles...
Koxie is N°3 (after 7 weeks as N°1) with "Garçon" & 7,000 more singles sold. Sean Kingston ("Beautiful Girls") & Christophe Willem ("Jacques A Dit") lost one place each but are still in the Top 5.
For the albums, best newcomer is rapper Lim with Délinquant, signed on a small label, Menace Records, with 12,200 albums sold. He was not the best album-seller this week : Marc Lavoine sold 14,500 copies of his album Les Duos De Marc. But Marc's album is considered as a compilation and not an album. James Blunt lost his leader place with All The Lost Souls & 10,500 albums sold, 300 more than last week. Christophe Maé is N°3 with Mon Paradis. Vanessa Paradis & Manu Chao lost 2 places each with Divinidylle & La Radiolina. Yannick Noah gained 36 places with Charango and is currently N°6.
For the newcomers, N°8 is Frédéric François with Merci La Vie & 6,900 albums sold. Neil Young is N°9 with Chrome Dreams II, Yael Naïm (singer from "Les Dix Commandements") is N°11 with her self-titled album, Nolwenn Leroy is N°25 with her first live album (3,200), Juanes is only N°34 with La Vida Es Un Ratico (2,900) and the newcomer Benoît Dorémus, produced by Renaud, is only N°163 with his first album Jeunesse Se Passe.
