last update : 03-09-2012 22:59
Banlieue Rouge was a punk band from Québec, Canada, active from 1989 to 1999.

The band started in 1989 in Longueuil, with Xavier Pétermann (vocals), Francis (guitar), Bastou (bass) & Fish (drums). Then, Safwan (vocals) joined Xavier (guitar) & Bastou. The drums have been replaced by a beat box. After the recording of their debut album En Attendant Demain, Bastou left the band & Sylvain David (guitar) joined Safwan & Xavier (bass). Finally, Jean-François "Jef" (drums) replaced the beat box.

The band had a punk style, close to Bérurier Noir. Then, it moved to hardcore punk.

After a decade of Canadian & European tour & 6 albums, Banlieue Rouge split. Safwan created Akuma with Simon. In 2003, Xavier, Sylvain & Fred (Shock Troops) created Corrigan Fest.
