Down the Vía Dolorosa in Jerusalem that day
The soldiers tried to clear the narrow street
But the crowd pressed in to see
The Man condemned to die on Calvary

He was bleeding from a beating, there were stripes upon His back
And He wore a crown of thorns upon His head
And He bore with every step
The scorn of those who cried out for His death

Down the Vía Dolorosa called the way of suffering
Like a lamb came the Messiah, Christ the King,
But He chose to walk that road out of
His love for you and me.
Down the Via Dolorosa, all the way to Calvary.

The blood that would cleanse the souls of all men
Made its way through the heart of Jerusalem.

Down the Vía Dolorosa called the way of suffering
Like a lamb came the Messiah, Christ the King
But He chose to walk that road out of His love for you and me
Down the Vía Dolorosa, all the way to Calvary.

Every year in the St Thomas School Passion Play in CT this song is sung, it is so beautiful and one of my favorites, next to the song I had to sing (Shout to the Lord; I was Jirus's Daughter)

This song is sung every year in CT's Passion Play. It never fails to get me, whether I've been a part of the play, or sitting in the audience. So beautiful, and powerful.

I get goosebumps every time I hear this song. My youth group is doing a drama to it as part of our trip to Mexico this summer. It really is a reminder of what Christ went through for us.

Here I am about a year later...I am surprised that I haven't heard this song this Easter season yet...maybe I will in the week right before Easter (aka...tomorrow and for the next week...).....I found it on Windows Media Player, but they don't have very good recordings of it.......

This is the very first time I heard this song and it sounded like it was in Hebrew, so I came here to see if letssingit had the lyrics. It is sad. I hope to hear it more often this week, if not, next Easter. But the tune for this is kinda foreign to the U.S., so that added to the effect of the song. I second that you should try to listen to this song. I've heard it only once, but it touched me just listening to it that one time.

I love this song! It's so awesome. I don't remember the tune as well as I should, though, so I wish I could listen to it somewhere.

i had to sign this song a couple of years at my church. we will be up on the risers and signing and i just become one with the words that it scares me. i love this song so much. if you haven't heard this song, then you should because it's a great song even though it's sad.
