Song lyrics
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair
In '77 and '69 revolution was in the air
I was born too late in to a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair

When the head of state didn't play guitar
Not everybody drove a car
When music really mattered and when radio was king
When accountants didn't have control
And the media couldn't buy your soul
When computers were still scary and we didn't know everything

[Chorus]
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair
In '77 and '69 revolution was in the air
I was born too late in to a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair

When popstars still remained a myth
And ignorance could still be bliss
And when God Saved the Queen she turned a whiter shade of pale
My mum and dad were in their teens
And anarchy was still a dream
And the only way to stay in touch was a letter in the mail

Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair
In '77 and '69 revolution was in the air
I was born too late in to a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair

When record shops were still on top
And vinyl was all that they stocked
And the super info highway was still drifting out in space
Kids were wearing hand me downs
And playing games meant kick arounds
And footballers still had long hair and dirt across their face

Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair
In '77 and '69 revolution was in the air
I was born too late in to a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair

I was born too late to a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair

i dislike this song a lot because it pisses the hell out of me. stupid melody and dumb lyrics. I wish she was a punk rocker in the 70s so i wouldn't have to hear her on my radio.

To me this song is about feeling that you don't belong and should be somewhere else.

All I wanted to say.

I love this song heaps. Punkrock is really a way of mind, like "I wanna play guitar, but i dont need to be top class" and "Im gonna sing, screw lessons". Punkrock isnt a trend or a style, its just a sort of lifestyle of being who you are and not really mattering whats going that may affect this state of mind. And i really think this song brings that aspect out, where music really mattered and it was so carefree, and punkrockers were so carefree not so obsessed about the right accessories. They had flowers in their hair, sung, played, and all that. I may be contradicting myself, and a bit of hypocrisy might shine through their, but i sure do hope my point was brough across at some point.

I love this song, I love how she's basically saying that she wishes she was born when the world was a simpler place before the technological age and all that I always thought I shouild have been born ten years earlier than what I was so I get where she comeing from with this song.

Acapella is only good with more than one voice! Great voice, bad song. I really want to shoot the person who arranged it.

AND THOSE WHO SAY THEY LOVE THE MESSAGE AND GAVE IT FIVE 5s, SHUT UP!!! I'M ABOUT MUSIC, NOT POETRY!!!

I like the simplicity of this song. Often today songs are so heavy that you lose not only the lyrics but the beat itself. I first heard it at a club where it was performed in a drag show by a friend of mine (he has good taste). And as for the lyrics, this is a good use of rhyme (not forced) and I agree with the idea that things were so much simplier and there was a fight worth fighting.

Ok, she sound great. Quite dull melody and arrangement... And just one other reaction:
Anyone ever seen Sid Vicious in a flowerarrangement?

She mixes 77 vith 69 and ok, it's about revolution, but the hippies and the 77-rebels weren't the same thing...

I love this song. It's got such a happy beat to it. I sang it when i was gigging and the crowd went wild, jumping about, enjoying themselves! That's what music's all about... making you feel good about yourself and happy! Well done Sandi! x

This song is the kind that gets stuck in your head... in a good way. I love that it's not overdone, especially mixing the simple arrangement with her voice. And saying that the message doesn't matter is simply stupid, because that's what the song really is about and therfore the message is the song. It kind of reminds me of a Swedish song called "I simply wasn't made for these days". How many of us can't relate to that?

Finally! Country music is back! Punkrocker is a great change from all the hip hop, rock, beat box kind of stuff you hear all the time.
the one thing i wonder about, though, is that if Sandi Thom wishes she was a punkrocker (with flowers in her hair) what on earth is she doing singing country?
oh well, her voice suits it. well done and keep it up!
