Falling Down First Single

Following in the footsteps of fetching young actresses ranging from Milla Jovovich to Lindsay Lohan, Scarlett Johansson is giving the music biz a shot.
A collection of cover songs by gravel-voiced downer Tom Waits, her debut album Anywhere I Lay My Head is set for release on May 20. The album’s first single, "Falling Down," features none other than David Bowie on backing vocals and is already drawing fire from critics for its approach to the source material.
Sounding much like Andy Warhol protégé Nico singing over music performed by heroin addicted, Mazzy Star influenced session players, the question does indeed arise: what’s the point in trying to be more Tom Waits-ish than Tom Waits?
The video for Falling Down, released to all points of the Internet on Tuesday, features a behind the scenes look at Johansson traversing the tre-mundane daily life of a critically acclaimed movie star. Riding in cars, texting on a Blackberry, getting hit on by Salman Rushdie (yeah, seriously) Johansson seems to cover every base short of flashing a MENSA membership card to the camera.
Produced by TV On The Radio guitarist Dave Sitek, the album reportedly features one original song in addition to the Waits covers and, who knows? It might even be worth checking out.
