He shot to international fame after winning TV talent show The X Factor.
But while Shayne Ward will be ever grateful for the millions of viewers who propelled him to stardom, he is sensible enough not to want to linger long in the comfort zone created by his TV win.
With a double A side single out on August 20 and a host of TV, interview and concert dates lined up, including a headline show with Girls Aloud and Jamelia at Bryn Terfel's Faenol Festival opening show, coming months will see Shayne busier than ever.
The latest single "If That's OK With You"/"No U Hang Up", more funky and suited to Shayne's individual singing style.
"That was always the plan," he said. "To find songs suited to me, that I can perform from the heart. The new album is sexier and more edgy that anything I have done before and all the tracks were written especially for my voice."
This will be his first real solo effort not created on the back of the X-Factor.
"It will stand on its own and its success will be purely down to the music, which is what it's all about," added Shayne.
At just 23 he has already tasted more fame than he ever dreamed possible, having travelled to far corners of the world on concert tours and promoting records. .
Ultimately he is keen to break into the American market and he has also been penning songs which he hopes to record.
Shayne is looking forward to performing at Faenol Festival alongside Jamelia and Girls Aloud, who he has crossed paths with on previous tours.
He said: "It will be great to see them again. Jamelia is lovely and we always have a lot of fun when we are all working at the same venue. I can't wait to get there and get into the festival mood."
