Song lyrics
My eyes are open wide.
By the way,
I made it through the day.

I watch the world outside.
By the way,
I am leaving out today.

I just saw Haley's comet, she waved
Said "why you always running in place?"
Even the man in the moon disappeared,
Somewhere in this stratosphere.

Tell my mother, tell my father
I've done the best I can
To make them realize,
This is my life.
I hope they understand,
I am not angry I am just saying,

Sometimes good bye is a second chance

Please don't cry one tear for me
I'm not afraid
of what i have to say
this is my one and only voice
so listen close
it's only for today

I just saw Haley's comet, she waved
Said "why you always running in place?"
Even the man in the moon disappeared,
Somewhere in this stratosphere.

Tell my mother, tell my father
I've done the best I can
To make them realize,
This is my life.
I hope they understand,
I am not angry I am just saying,

Sometimes good bye is a second chance.

Here is my chance.
This is my chance!

Tell my mother, tell my father
I've done the best I can
To make them realize,
This is my life.
I hope they understand,
I am not angry I am just saying,

Sometimes goodbye is a second chance.
Sometimes goodbye is a second chance.
Sometimes goodbye is a second chance.

While this song is great on the album, every performance I have seen by Brent Smith (lead singer) shows me that he can't hit the notes outside of the recording studio. He never belts out the songs, he stops for breathers while the audience sings. Furthermore, he insists on talking for 15 minutes or more of his evenings. He talks so much, every concert, that it has become more of an annoyance to see them perform than the joy it should be.

This band blows live. This song sucks live.

It's very rare that a song has as much of an effect on me as this one does. Weeks after first hearing this song, I still listen to it every day and it has the same effect on me each time. This is without a doubt one of the best songs I have ever heard. Everything, from the lyrics to the incredible emotion in the vocals, just sends chills down my spine every time I hear it.

And yes, Shinedown does rock. One of the best modern-age rock bands in my opinion.

This song is deep. The video sends a very powerful message. The only thing that confuses me is the part with Halley's comet, but this song is great!

I like the way they sing the lines "I just saw Haley's comet" and "Even the man in the moon disappears" - they're interestingly sung and I like the space/astronomy references.

The rest of the song seems rather ordinary, and the lyrics don't make much sense to me in this song.

But I listen it to it just for those two cool lines.
