Simple with a deadpan delivery. Lovely background. Reminiscent of a sun-baked desert. |

i like how the second line has a level of sarcasm to it. also, i like how the lyrics involve so many metaphors and similies that just add to how awesome the song is. i'm definitely going to rent garden state, i've wanted to see that for a while.
everything the shins do is awesome and has a meaning thats worth it to it. so yah.

Not their best song, but better than most other band's best songs.
But yes, Garden State is the best film ever. And trust me, I've see a lot of them. |

| Well thats an unusually stupid remark, maby people haven't had the chance to hear it until now? so you mean people can't like old songs? it's like telling someone who wasn't born during the Beatles era that he/she can't like the beatles because he/she wasn't born then.
And why does it matter where you heard it? You have to hear it somewhere for the first time, why not in a movie?
And me for example, i live in Sweden and the Shins aren't very big here, for all i know im the only one who knows about them. You can't even find their first cd here.
p.s Think before you speak. |

Awesome song! Just the perfect song for those quiet days when you just wanna relax to a melody. The lyrics are a bit weird though. A great song none the less. |

I think it's great the Shins (obviously) got exposure through Garden State, but I do see the guy who ranted earlier's point a tad; I feel weird that I knew of Mercer's music (Flake/Flake Music) before the Shins even existed. Now it seems the only fans of the Shins i've met (even at a show of theirs) discovered the Shins through Garden State and the Spongebob Squarepants movie. |

| Spongebob!? Huh?
Personally, my favorite Shins song.
everyone I know has never heard of the Shins, so I play it and they're like "Ew, they're not that good, what is that." I kinda like how they're not mainstream, a lot of good music is ruined by the radio (case-in-point: Jack Johnson)
I don't really understand the whole song though, I just love listening to it. Does anyone know what it means? |
