 Yesterday, another track from the soundtrack of the awaiting movie "The Great Gatsby" has been released. It's the song called 'Kill and Run', by the Australian singer-songwriter Sia.
Whether or not the Baz Luhrmann-directed, and Leonardo DiCaprio-starred "The Great Gatsby" becomes a box office hit when it gets released worldwide next May 10 remains a mystery to me, but what I know for sure right now is that its soundtrack is gonna sell like hotcakes! The 14-song compilation is out May 7. We've heard a few snippets, and full songs from the soundtrack in the past days, for instance, excerpts of the Beyonce contribution, a cover of Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black", Jay-Z's "100$ Bill", or Lana del Rey's glorious "Young and Beautiful" song in its entirety, but today the spotlight is fixed on the super-talented Sia. The Australian musician, who is well known for penning the latest smash hits of the likes of Rihanna, Ne-Yo or David Guetta, slays on the epic "Kill and Run". A sweeping song, with a simple yet exquisite production of strings and piano that blends heavenly with Sia's unique vocals and way of singing, and lyrics. The ballad ends in a goosebumps-worthy crescendo with Sia belting out the lyrics of the hook in a heartbreaking kind of way. Epic. |
