 ARIA winner and all-round goddess of quirk, Sia Furler, is guest of honour at tonight's 'MTV Summer Event' (Dec 1) – a sizzling shindig to celebrate MTV's hot summer programming.
The singer will be in good booze-swigging company at the Sydney Hyde Park Barracks bash, and will get to schmooze with Oz-rockers Wolfmother – who'll play a smokin'set - and MTV VJs, Ruby Rose and Darren McMullen. The 'Buttons' babe can't wait. She told us: "I'm definitely a summer girl. I spend long, lazy summer days listening to anything by Jeff Buckley." Talking about picking up the ARIA Best DVD, she told us: "I didn't expect to get that award. I thought it would go to someone who was in Australia all the time. (Sia is based in New York). "I haven't actually got the award yet. What will I do with it? Doorstop? Bookend? They're good suggestions!" During the ARIA press conference the singer – who's famously written four tracks for Christina Aguilera's next album – revealed she'd written a song for Aggy's new movie, too, and that she sees herself slinking behind the scenes and doing more movie music in future. Was that a hint she may quit the pop scene after her next album? "No, no, no!" she said emphatically. "But eventually I'd like to get in to more writing for various projects." Phew. The annual 'MTV Summer Event' premieres on MTV Australia, Sunday, December 6 @ 7:30pm. The 75 minute bonanza will feature juicy sneak-peaks from up and coming seasons of The Hills, The City and Nitro Circus, as well as killer performances from Wolfmother, including their new single 'White Feather' - plus tongue-in-cheek summer tips from the likes of Benji and Joel Madden from Good Charlotte, Pete Wentz, Travis Pastrana from Nitro Circus, rapper Lil Jon and Hulk Hogan.
