We are the youth
We'll take your facism away
We are the youth
Apologize for another day
We are the youth
The politicians are so sure
We are the youth
And we are knocking on death's door
Never knew we were living in a world
With a mind that could be so sure
Never knew we were living in a world
With a mind that could be so small
Never knew we were living in a world
And the world is an open court
Maybe we don't wanna live in a world
Where our innocence is so short
We'll make it up to you
In the year 2000 with
Never knew we were living in a world
With a mind that could be so sure
Never knew we were living in a world
With a mind that could be so small
Never knew we were living in a world
And the world is an open court
Maybe we don't wanna live in a world
Where our innocence is so short
We'll make it up to you
In the year 2000
Build it up for you
In the year 2000
Make up to you
In the year 2000
Build it up for you
In the year 2000 with you
Never knew we were living in a world
With a world that could be so sure
Never knew we were living in a world
With a mind that could be so small
Never knew we were living in a world
And the world is an open court
Maybe we don't wanna live in a world
Where no one even cares at all
We'll make it up to you
In the year 2000
Build it up for you
In the year 2000
Make it hard for you
In the year 2000
Build it up for you
In the year 2000
Make it hard for you
In the year 2000
Build it up for you
In the year 2000 with you
i love this song. year 2000 was a huge year for me, so much happened. this song is so true. bieng youth myself. and stuff i think us younger generations since the year 2000 have had so many more opportunities and been involved in so much more. we're involved now, not low and not kids. we're important, and overtaking.. HELL YEH!

vocal A very good, memorable song that is hindered by atrocious lyrics:
"We are the youth, we'll take your fascism away" Please.... I read somewhere that this song refers to the institution of a curfiew for those under a certain age- thats fascism in my books! I think I need to retch.
Oh, the poor youth, eveyone ruins everything for us. We're all such victims. nothing is our fault. We can't make decisions for ourselves.
Other than that though, this is a good song, the percussion especially stands out; it's a pity it had to be so contentious lyrically.

vocal I know this thread is old but I just can't help it.
This girl above me is harassing someone about their lyrical views, but lets see she was seven when this song came out....SEVEN...you have got to be kidding me.
And yea, lyrics do mean a lot. Maybe when you get a little more older you will understand that.
blah who cares. the song is great. everything about it is great. the meaning is great. it's a great song. let's just leave it at that and stop the fussing.
