Sin Bandera se creó espontáneamente: el mexicano Leonel García tenía la idea de lanzarse como solista, mostraba destreza con la guitarra y la voz, pero su proyecto quedaba congelado en las disqueras. Al mismo tiempo, el argentino Noel Schajris preparaba otro material como solista después de debutar en 1999. Siendo ambos músicos, compositores y cantantes, descubrieron en 2000 la fórmula ideal para unir sus talentos y personalidades.
Hubo química inmediata: hablaron sobre su música favorita, de los discos que compraban, de los cantautores que más les atraían... ¡y coincidieron en todo! Los dos querían cantar, pero Noel prefería el piano, y Leonel, la guitarra, por lo que en ningún momento hubo choque de intereses, sino una integración de gustos musicales.
Por aquel entonces empezaron a escribir y grabar su disco de debut, Sin Bandera, que sería fácil de escuchar y que tocó de una manera muy especial los sentimientos del público romántico, con la producción del también músico y arreglista Áureo Baqueiro. Sólo en su primera reunión hicieron tres canciones, durante un solo día. Componer canciones fue la mejor manera para conocerse. Después de tener experiencias musicales por separado, resultaba muy emocionante sentir la fuerza que lograban juntos.
El nombre Sin Bandera se adoptaría para transmitir la idea de preocuparse por unirnos más. Ambos pensaban que la sociedad estaba separada, que llega el momento en que ya no se entiende ni en ideología, ni en lenguaje, y terminamos pensando que uno es el enemigo del otro y que hay que acabar con él. Como el amor no tiene bandera y la música no tiene bandera, de ahí se inspiraron para nombrar a su nueva aventura musical. La pareja quiere hacer sentir el mensaje, a través de la música, de que somos uno y el sentimiento es la mejor vía de comunicación, y el amor la energía primordial que le da sentido a todo.
"Entra en mi vida", su primer éxito, es una canción compuesta por ellos mismos en la que plasman la magia del amor y las emociones que genera un primer encuentro con esa persona especial. Fue el tema oficial de la telenovela mexicana Cuando seas mía. Y los temas “Kilómetros” y “Sirena” también se convirtieron en las favoritos del público joven. Su éxito se extendió a España, Argentina, Estados Unidos, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Colombia, Perú, Ecuador y Panamá, por citar algunos países.
Para 2002 Sin Bandera sería nominado a dos premios Grammy Latino, por Mejor Revelación y Mejor Álbum por Dúo o Grupo Vocal, ganando este último en la entrega que se celebró en Los Ángeles, California, el 18 de septiembre. Con su álbum de estreno superaron de largo el millón de copias vendidas y, de paso, fue Disco de Platino en México, Oro en Costa Rica y Argentina, recibió varios premios Oye!, Lo Nuestro (Mejor Álbum Pop) y un MTV Latino (Mejor Artista).
Después de algunos meses sin descanso, en 2003 grabaron Amor real, el cual serviría también como tema musical de la telenovela homónima. Además, el grupo fue el encargado de abrir los conciertos de Alejandro Sanz en Estados Unidos, y poco tiempo después lo hará en España
A finales de 2003 llega De viaje, producido de nuevo por Baqueiro, que igualmente se acercaría poco a poco al millón de ventas a nivel internacional y que estuvo 16 semanas continuas en las listas de Billboard y su Hot Latin. Entre los 16 temas del álbum figuran “Que lloro”, “Bien”, “Magia”, “Mientes tan bien”, “Canción para días lluviosos” y “Puede ser”, a dúo con Presuntos Implicados.
En 2004 llevan a cabo su gira por Venezuela, Bolivia, Argentina, Paraguay, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, México, Estados Unidos y España, entre otros países, y son nominados de nuevo para la quinta entrega del Grammy Latino -ganarían como Mejor Álbum Vocal Pop por Dúo o Grupo- por segundo año consecutivo. También, luego de una exitosa minitemporada en el Teatro Metropólitan de México (3,300 espectadores), reciben la oportunidad de tocar por primera vez en el Auditorio Nacional de la Ciudad de México (9,600 espectadores) con dos fechas a mediados de octubre.
El 22 de noviembre de 2005 lanzan su tercer album, titulado "Mañana", ya disco de platino en México y de oro en Argentina; y del cual se desprenden 13 temas, entre los cuales se encuentran "Suelta mi mano", "Como voy a odiarte" y "Tocame", todos ya grandes éxitos de la radio internacional.

Leonel García: -Nació el 27 de enero de 1975. - Le gusta la música de Kanye West, Shaggy, Craig David y James Blunt, entre otros. -Prefiere el cine de arte y siempre busca rarezas, ya sea del asiático o europeo. -Es fanático de Stanley Kubrick. -Prefiere la comida mexicana.

Sin Bandera is a Latin pop duo based in Mexico that consists of Leonel García, and Noel Schajris.
Sin Bandera was formed spontaneously: Leonel García (from Mexico) had the idea to be soloist, he showed dexterity with the guitar and the voice, but his project remained frozen at the record companies. After having separate musical experiences, It turned out to be very exciting to feel the force that they achieved together.
The name "Sin Bandera" (Without a Flag) was adopted to transmit the idea to worry about world union. They both thought that we lived in a separate society, that we get to the point where we no longer believe in ideology or in language, and we end up thinking that one is the enemy of the other. As love and music do not have a flag, from that they were inspired to name their new musical adventure.
