 Sin Bandera se creó espontáneamente: el mexicano Leonel García tenía la idea de lanzarse como solista, mostraba destreza con la guitarra y la voz, pero su proyecto quedaba congelado en las disqueras. Al mismo tiempo, el argentino Noel Schajris preparaba otro material como solista después de debutar en 1999.
