2 posts	rhythm melody instruments lyrics vocal I, first of all, must say that I am completely in love with this song. The lyrics are brilliantly simple, and the voice is melancholily sweet and pure. I do however have to disagree with all of you as to the meaning. I am no one to say for certain, but there is nothing that leads to believe that it has to do with somthing such as the war. The long distance relashionship theory though might have some validity. I, personally, think it is about a break up. "I'll sing it one last time for you, Then we really have to go"... "To think I might not see those eyes, It makes it so hard not to cry, And as we say our long goodbyes, I nearly do." If you read that, it becomes evident that he is saying goodbye, hence the sorrowfilled words he sings which are paralleled by his voice. Not simply breaking up, but he's saying "I'll be right beside you dear". It seems like something along the lines of "we're saying goodbye, but I will always love you and be there for you". Looking at it that way, re-read the lyrics, and tell me what ya think. Hope my point of view helps!
