AboutStacey Kent was born on March 27, 1968 in South Orange, NJ. She attended New York's Sarah Lawrence College & moved to London, where she studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She met saxophonist Jim Tomlinson, who married her in 1991.
Her first album Close Your Eyes came out in 1997. In 2002, Stacey received a BBC Jazz Award for "Female Artist". In 2005, she participated to Tomlinson's album The Lyric, it received a BBC Jazz Award for "Best Album".
In September 2006, her album The Boy Next Door has been certified gold. In September 2007, Breakfast On The Morning Tram came out & has been certified gold 3 months later. On March 31, 2009, French Culture Minister Christine Albanel decorated Stacey "Chevalier Des Arts Et Des Lettres".
