i can't decide if i like this, i most definitely adore the bassline, but Julian's voice starts to grate on me after a while...but still, it's a good comeback song! (although the video sucks)

This song could take some getting used too...not sure about the vocals yet...but hey its The Strokes, they have their own unique voice.

out of tune??? are you insaine?? do you have any idea of what a note in tune sounds like even??...they sat and worked their ass off for a whole year in their studio with their producer listening to everysignle detail. NOTHING in frist impressions, not one signle note is thrown in at random...everysingle detail was throwin in after being speculated compared to others and analyzed. pls dont be so ignorant. if anything his voice is 5 times better, he actually sings, uses melodies, is this it and room on fire were mostly holding notes in a talk/sing monotonous way and screaming...their are wonderful albums aswell but in this new one he sings very well. have you heard all the songs?

in Ize of the world when he sings going up the scale in the second verse...what do you think of that?? i never thought julian could go up that high or play with his voice like that....im lead singer and guitarrist of a band (arthurdickson.blogspot.com)..and i cant go nowhere near compared to what he did in first impressions....its not hard for him to do what he does now, to sing like that.....its hard for any singer out there today

This is a really great song.

It's so different from all their other singles. It has a raw edginess to it that The Strokes lacked in previous albums.

Good for them.

oh hehehe...well im sorry bout that then..its that it ticks me off when people criticize or make comments of such magnitude when not applicable...the strokes are a great band, they started a movement and they did it again, came out with a fresh sound...not just another album that all those cliche "The blablabla" bands that came out after them are realeasing on a daily basis. my apologies again.

can i just say something to the person who said julian is singing 'out of tune'....
how the hell do you know?? did he not write this song, and therefore decide the tune he wud sing to it???
i think you have no idea wat youre talking about.
i also think the strokes are more about the screaming and slurred singing/speaking, thats their trademark i thought...
and there's no 'right or wrong' way of singing, everyone's voice is different, everyone uses their voice differently... and when you're a composer, like julian casablancas (go figure!) you decide yourself the pitch and tune and what not of the way you will sing the songs u write.
its obvious you have no idea what you're talking about.
