| Song lyrics |
I'll wait here
You're crazy
Those vicious streets are filled with strays
You should've never gone to Hollywood
They find you
Two-time you
Say you're the best they've ever seen
You should've never trusted Hollywood
I wrote you
And told you
You were the biggest fish out here
You should've never gone to Hollywood
They take you
And make you
They look at you in disgusting ways
You should've never trusted Hollywood
I was standing on the wall
Feeling ten feet tall
All you maggots, smoking fags
On Santa Monica Boulevard
This is my front page
This is my new age
All you bitches put your hands in the air
And wave them like you just don't care
All you maggots, smoking fags
Out there on Sunset Boulevard
All you bitches put your hands in the air
And wave them like you just don't care
Phony people come to pray
Look at all of them beg to stay
Phony people come to pray
(The lines in the letter said “We have gone to Hackensack”)
Look at all of them beg to stay
Phony people come to pray
All you maggots, smoking fags
On Santa Monica Boulevard
All you maggots, smoking fags
Out there on Sunset Boulevard
All you maggots, smoking fags
Out there on Hollywood Boulevard
You should've never trusted Hollywood
You should've never gone to Hollywood
All you bitches put your hands in the air
And wave them like you just don't care
You should've never trusted Hollywood

am i reallythe only person who preffered system when their songs werent so goddamn literal? i mean, blah, theyve just become another stupid political band cashing in on the popular anti-bush anti-america ethos of the world. They havent made a song like spiders since...well, since spiders. its been all downihill since their first album. | 21-05-2005 18:05 Mevoki | 14 posts

I LOVED Toxicity, but I've never listened to Spiders. Seems like I should. And I do have to agree, they have gotten worse over time. But nonetheless, as political as they are, I frickin love this song so much!!! It's such a change from their other stuff. It's actually a normal, soothing song with great vocals. So un-systemish. Probably the best on the CD.
SO much better than "It's a non-stop disco, betcha it's Nabisco. Betcha didn't know WHOOHO." | 23-05-2005 23:41 aechick8815 | 46 posts

| god Yezidis. why do i have to have the same music taste as you? do you have a problem with the fact that i look a bit beyond the radio or mtv to find the music that i like?
and by that i mean shut up and crawl back into your hole. | 06-06-2005 06:45 cj37 | 1 posts
| [b]Maybe you need to read about soad before you say that they havent been political, because they have been a political band since their first cd, and spiders wasn't that great of a song, thanks. | 06-06-2005 17:33 misschatterbox | 31 posts

foNt, will you PERLEEEEEEEEEEEEASE fuck off. i dunno bout ne1 else but u r realli startin 2 pis me off. ok so soad have changesd a litle since their older albums, but change is good! ande i totally agree wid all the ppl hu have actually decided 2 have a small go at u about it. no 1 is sayin u have 2 have the same music taste as us, but u dont have to go on and on about how shite they are. we are true fans, hu love their music, and just because we havent let it get 2 us that this album is slitly less awesome than tyhe others, it is still one of the best albums ever! i mean it cud be worse, we cud all be listenin 2 akon and shite like that btw, about the song, i love it!! | 08-06-2005 03:42 A_Buddy360 | 2 posts

The lyrics are good and the Vocals are amazing, I find daron sings really well, and having two singers in this song was well placed. | 15-06-2005 14:45 FoNT | 1,940 posts
| oh really cj37? please tell me the songs from soads first album that were political. and by that i mean; songs that are as openly political as their new stuff. yes, they did have one or two songs that aluded (sp?) to politics, but for the most part, their earlier songs werent political. please dont try to lecture me about soad. id put money on it that i know more about them than you do. | 15-06-2005 14:53 FoNT | 1,940 posts
| ok. yes. pluck and war were political songs. ill give you that. they were also, in my opinion, the worst songs on the album. but theres a big step up from 2 political songs out of a 13 track cd to an entire cd in which politics features in every song.
at the time of their first cd, they may have been a political band, but they werent playing solely political songs.
in fact, screw that. war isnt a particularly political song at all, apart from the title. so that leaves one completely political song on the album. | 17-06-2005 19:14 psychotic_fish | 2 posts

this album is not solely about politics only a couple of songs are, do u hear anyfing about politics in violent pornography, question, even dis song. infact only a couple of songs on dis album are openly about politics which is BYOB, the rest of the songs are almost completely irrelevant 2 politics or at least not directly about politics. dis album has got a different sound and a feel 2 it then the 1st album, which il have 2 agree with u is the best, but dis album still rocks n i cant wait till hypnotise | 19-06-2005 19:08 MusicJunkieGirl | 9 posts

You're forgetting another main political song, buddy, that goes by the name of [b]. It's more striking than BYOB in all areas.
As far as "Lost In Hollywood", I can easily tell you that I'm not much a fan of Daron's singing, but besides a few parts in this song where he's off-key, it's rather well crafted. | 19-06-2005 19:08 MusicJunkieGirl | 9 posts
| Um, the first paragraph was supposed to be:
You're forgetting another main political song, buddy, that goes by the name of SAD STATUE. It's more striking than BYOB in all areas. | 21-06-2005 05:46 thejoedontdie | 425 posts

there is one song by SOAD that i dont like and this is not it. this song is so amazing. its just like purely great. and as for being political, system has always been political. look at pluck on their first album, or war!. seriously. the new stuff is a little different but that doesnt mean its worse. i personally love mesmerize and cant wait for hypnotize. | 21-06-2005 06:53 FoNT | 1,940 posts
| war actually isnt a particularly political song. it can be interpreted as being one yes, but if youre talking literal meanings, then no, its not. | 21-06-2005 06:56 thejoedontdie | 425 posts
| all im sayin is that system has always been political. cant we agree on that? | 21-06-2005 06:57 thejoedontdie | 425 posts
