Takida - Biography

Takida, a five-piece melodic rock band from mid Sweden, started out in 1999 and have worked hard becoming the national success they are today.
Takida have been touring all around Sweden and built quite a reputation as a solid live band. Their fan base has grown to something quite impressive, and it's still early days. The first demo "Old" was a 5-track CD, recorded in year 2000. The 500 copies that were produced sold out immediately.
With many successful gigs and increased popularity the band was able to release their own material during the years that followed. They produced four EP's and one full album by themselves, which sold astonishing 10.000 copies all together.
In 2005 Takida signed their first record deal with their local indie label Ninetone Records, distributed by Universal Music, this turned out to be a big step in the right direction.
"Losing", the first single from the new album, released in January 2006, entered the Swedish single chart as an impressive ..2. It stayed in the top for weeks and was the most played song on Swedens biggest alternative rock-station "Bandit 106-3". Losing was followed up by the fans' own favourite track "Jaded", the first track to bring Takida some massive airplay. Media has finally jumped on-board the fast-running Takida-train, a lot due to all the demanding fans frequently requesting the songs
The album "...Make you breathe" was released in Sweden early April 2006, entered the album chart as ..7 and the hard rock chart as ..1 and it stayed in the top since (now 5 weeks as ..1 and counting)
Takida is now on the road playing all the big clubs and festivals to support the album. Sold out venues every night. They are now a headlining act in Sweden.
Just before the hockey world championship started the band was called up by one of the players in the Swedish national hockey team Tre Kronor. This is what he said:
"The Swedish national hockey team has got Takida-fever. All players want Takida T-shirts and we're always listening to "...Make you breathe" when we prepare for a game!"
