Song lyrics
i'm under the assumption
that i'm gonna be the one that's leaving you, tonight (tonight)
well i flipped every switch that i could find on my way out
just to upset you more
(just to keep you busy)
just to make you angry
(just because you were right)
just because you were...

all tired, scream safe haven
let's get this out and on the table

fast forward to, say, four o'clock
i'm keeping time, i'm holding, we're always holding,
(we're always holding)
we're always holding, holding out
and that's what got us here in the first place
you should have never come here alone
you should have never bothered at all (bothered at all)

(CHORUS)
scream older and wiser still filled with resentment
we get it, we get it oh...
(i haven't been happier since)
older and wiser still filled with resentment
we get it, we get it oh bree ann...
(i haven't been happier since)
i haven't been happy, no not since

well five o'clock the floor caught fire with footsteps (my footsteps)
and it spread like a disease to the door
im stuttering through it but i hear you,
well i, i hear its good t-t-to stick to what you know
and you know the whole lot of this,
it all could have been avoided when
you were courtside for this nightmare
well since then i got myself, come and listen

(CHORUS)
older and wiser still filled with resentment
we get it, we get it oh...
(i haven't been happier since)
older and wiser still filled with resentment
we get it, we get it oh (bree ann x3)
(i haven't been happier since x4)
i haven't been happy, no not since

well it used to take so much more...
(i used to, i used to, too)
it used to take so much more...
(i used to, i used to, too)
i used to, i used to, too...

Agreed... it is a good song...
So here's the question. Better band through their first 2 cd's... Taking Back Sunday?
Or
Brand New?

I'm going with Brand New, their lyrics got better with their music, I think TBS's lyrics have slightly declined though their music still kicks ass.

Yea i wondered who Bree Ann was, or Bree Anne. both are printed in the lyrics. but I love the way he sings her name! I asked my rents if Fred Astaire was married to someone called Bree Ann but nope. and I checked the bands thankyous but no sign. who cares, it rocks.

maybe Bree anne was the only thing that fitted well into the song? lol
thats what i love about TBS, their lyrics are like no other. Some could be random, or could have a deep meaning. but either way, its bloody amazing.

I personally think Brand New's first CD was better...deeper and more emotional lyrics and more skill. I think they're more lyrically talented.

But of course, you can't like Brand New and not love TBS also.

Not the best song on the CD, but still wonderful <3

This song is very good, I like it.
and about Brand New and TBS .. I really love 'em both but I've always had this thing for Brand New and they've gotten way better on the second album. Their lyics are so mature and deep.. oh wait I'm here to discuss TBS's song, it's pretty good just like the rest of the songs on this album

I think this is one of the best songs on the album. And it's kinda surprising that it only has about 10 comments.
Anyways, I like the background screams on it. and I love the line
"Scream older and wiser,
Still filled with resentment"

Yeah, a goodie!
