The Louisville, KY platinum selling hard rock band, Tantric will release their new album “The End Begins” this Tuesday 4/22/08. “The End Begins” marks TANTRIC’s triumphant return to the scene they helped create. Working yet again with Producer and ‘6th band member,’ Toby Wright (Slayer, Alice In Chains,Korn, Corrosion of Conformity) the band has created a sound that hits you hard and sticks in your head. “I had all the right tools in the toolbox, but (Toby) had the grease," says Erik Leonhardt, the bands bassist of how Wright took what the band members had to the next level. Lyrically, Hugo Ferriera has gotten more literal as time has passed. “Before my lyrics were more vague and evocative of emotion” states Ferriera. “Now I am getting the same emotion, but I am telling a story too.” The story of TANTRIC is far from over. One listen to the band’s brand new material and it all begins again!
“THE END BEGINS” truly closes the door on what TANTRIC used to be and shows rock fans everywhere what can be done with talent, passion and a unique take on what modern Rock & Roll should sound like. ”Every ending gives birth to a new beginning,” says vocalist Hugo Ferriera.
“The End Begins” features 11 new tracks including a guest appearance by Kevin Martin, lead vocalist of Candlebox on “The One”.
The 11 titles on the new album are as follows:
1. Regret
2. Down and Out
3. The One (Featuring Kevin Martin from Candlebox)
4. Love Song
5. Wishing
6. Something Better
7. Lucky One
8. The End Begins
9. Monopoly
10. Why Don’t You
11. Lay
Tantric was formed by three former members of Days Of The New, Jesse Vest, Todd Whitener, and Matt Taul, with the addition of Merge singer, Hugo Ferreira. They were signed to Maverick Records in 1999, and recorded their self-titled debut with producer, Toby Wright in 2000. The record was released in February 2001, which debuted at #193 on the Billboard 200. The record eventually went platinum, largely on the strength of the single "Breakdown" and the band's extensive touring with the likes of Kid Rock and Creed. The song "Breakdown" would also eventually be selected for an opening scene to an episode of the gritty cop drama "The Shield". Follow-up singles "Astounded" and a remixed version of "Mourning" also fared well.
The band's second album, "After We Go", again produced by Wright, was released in February 2004, preceded by the single "Hey Now". Described as heavier than their first record, "After We Go" debuted at #56 on the Billboard 200.
In 2005, bassist Jesse Vest left the group, wishing to spend more time with his family. In November 2007, Todd Whitener and Matt Taul left the band to pursue other projects. Left without a band, Hugo Ferreira began searching for a new band. Ferreira enlisted former Fuel drummer Kevin Miller, Joe Pessia (guitarist Dramagods), Erik Leonhardt (bassist), and Marcus Ratzenboeck (electric violin) as new members of the band. Shortly thereafter, Tantric announced their deal with the Silent Majority Group record label, and their new management company, JHMP.
