Song lyrics
There is a house in New Orleans
they call the Rising Sun.
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy,
and God I know I'm one.

My mother was a tailor,
she sewed my new blue jeans.
My father was a gambling man,
down in New Orleans.

Now the only thing a gambler needs
is a suitcase and a trunk.
And the only time he's satisfied
is when he's on a drunk.

Oh mother tell your children,
not to do what I have done.
Spend your lives in sin and misery
in the house of the Rising Sun.

Well I got one foot on the platform and
the other foot on the train.
I'm goin back to New Orleans
to wear that ball and chain.

Well there is a house in New Orleans
they call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy,
and God I know I'm one.

Wow I can't believe this song is from the sixties! It doesn't sound like any sixties son I've ever heard. The seventies maybe.

Were any of those guys later in The Doors? Especially the keyboardist? This band sounds a little like them.

And I didn't think keyboards existed back then.

What an amazing song.

No no, not Eric Clapton. At least not if you mean The Animals. Eric Burdon was the singer there. You should check out his solo stuff as well! =)
