Song lyrics
Is there anybody going to listen to my story
All about the girl who came to stay?
She's the kind of girl
you want so much it make you sorry
Still you don't regret a single day
Ah, girl, Girl, Girl

When I think of all the times
I tried so hard to leave her
She will turn to me and start to cry
And she promises the earth to me
and I believe her
After all this time I don't know why
Ah, girl, girl, girl

She's the kind of girl who puts you down
When friends are there
You feel a fool
When you say she's looking good
She acts as if it's understood
she's cool, ooh, oo, oo, oo
Girl, girl, girl

Was she told when she was young
that pain would lead to pleasure
Did she understand it when they said
That a man must break his back
to earn his day of leisure?
Will she still believe it when he's dead
Ah, girl, girl, girl

Did anyone in The Beatles say it's about weed? Is there anything in the lyrics that doesn't fit with a girl? If not, then don't say it's about weed. Even if some of the lyrics might fit with weed, that doesn't mean it still can't be about a girl. And even if some of The Beatles' songs might be about weed or any other drug, that doesn't mean they all are. Of course you are entitled to your opinions and theories, but please don't state anything as obvious or act like you're the only smart one without stating what reason you have for it.
Thank you!

OK, the first thing that struck me about this song was the non-harmonic tendencies of the melody - ohhh gosh, as a music major, I am thoroughly impressed. Musically, these guys are geniuses. Honestly, there are very few popular musicians who exhibit that they know their music theory or at least portray it in an interesting manner. Only the truly gifted can incorporate the theory into the application - and the result is absolutely marvelous.

Other than this, the more I listen to the song, the more I'm convinced that the girl in this song is Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's. Now I'm aware that that is most likely not true... but if you've read the book, tell me what you think about that conjecture.

A pretty screwed-up girl... yeah... that's Holly.
