| Song lyrics |
London Calling, to the far away towns
Now war is declared, and battle come down
London Calling, to the underworld
Come out of the cupboard, you boys and girls
London Calling, now don't look to us
Phoney Beatlemania has bitten the dust
London Calling, see we ain't got no swing
Except for the ring of that truncheon thing
The Ice Age is coming, the sun zooming in
Meltdown expected, the wheat is growing thin
Engines stop running, but I have no fear
'Cause London is drowning, and I live by the river
London Calling, to the imitation zone
Forget it, brother, you can go it alone
London Calling, to the zombies of death
Quit holding out and draw another breath
London Calling, and I don't wanna shout
But while we were talking, I saw you nodding out
London Calling, see we ain't got no highs
Except for that one with the yellowy eyes
The Ice Age is coming, the sun zooming in
Engines stop running, the wheat is growing thin
A nuclear error, but I have no fear
'Cause London is drowning, and I live by the river
The Ice Age is coming, the sun zooming in
Engines stop running, the wheat is growing thin
A nuclear error, but I have no fear
'Cause London is drowning, and I live by the river
Now get this...
London Calling, yes, I was there too
And you know what they said? Well, some of it was true
London Calling, at the top of the dial
And after all this, won't you give me a smile?
London Calling
And I never felt so much I like

All you guys suck except for big dave up there. He's right, this song sucks ass. Yeah it used to be cool. But no, everywhere and everything that's popular had to go and take an underground true band's song, and make it popular. And yeah, Guns of Brixton was a good song. But a little gay rap band called 'Cypruss Hill' had to steal it and fag it up! The Clash used to be cool untill they hit new wave. They were cool when they were punks, they were cool when they were rude boys. It doesn't matter. They kick ass. You guys need to appreciate good music! Cheers, to The Clash. One of the best damn bands out there. | 04-11-2004 03:00 Mien | 1,324 posts

this song is probably the best of it's genre. the clash is so different than most bands that they are so much more interesting to listen to. | 20-12-2004 04:12 Jack_is_awesome | 188 posts

One of the best songs they made | 20-01-2005 00:22 sweetmischief | 10 posts
| this is one of my favourite clash songs. i really like guns of brixton and rock the casbah. i think what happened with this song is like what happened with smells like teen spirit. it becomes a big hit and the band gains popularity and you get assholes saying shit like "this band was good until they got all mainstream, now they suck". that bothers me almost as much as when people do things only because that's what everyone else is doing. changing yourself to be different is the same as changing yourself to be like everyone else. this is an amazing song regardless of how "mainstream" or "overplayed" it is. | 02-02-2005 06:42 rootsrockrebel | 4 posts

dude, mike riot (sick name) teh clash never hit new wave, the clash did more for punk rock than any band ever, expanded it to its farthest reaches, and punk died the day that sandinista was rejected by punk. And i am not somebody who likes that modern pop music called punk today, through and through roots punk only. but the clash at their mellowest were more punk than any band ever. | 11-02-2005 00:52 Kat797 | 2 posts

I think London Calling is a great song. On the other hand, I think it's far from the best one they have ever made. I think Tommy Gun is a really great song, but who don't wanna listen to for example Straight To Hell? | 05-05-2005 16:53 kurtbestever | 202 posts

I don't know where you've been living for the past 30 years but The Clash are anything but underground. And dislking a song you fully admit was once 'cool' just because it is popular is plain shallow...
Great song, not their best but pretty damn good. | 31-10-2005 01:03 ramonesrule | 4 posts
| Mike Riot your stupid. What kind of a retarted reason to hate a song is that its popular? its not the clash's fault everyone likes it... besides if everyone likes it isn't it a sign its good?
