4 posts | Great song, about the meaning...they had an interview with the guy who sang it cos it was on '50 greatest one hit wonders'.
His girlfriend introduced him to her friend, he fell in lust with her, wrote this song about her cos he thought she was so hot (the song is meant to be what sex would sound like) and then he broke up with his girlfriend and Sharona and him dated for 4 years. Clearly not a paedo, just someone with really loose morals. And surely teenage kicks isn't paedo-ish either- it's about a teen guy who sees a teen girl and the lust that teenagers have being so different to the adult version. |

4 posts | In defense of The Undertones the legal age in the UK is 16 so getting 'Teenage Kicks' can be fine and legal.
As for My Sharona could just be that he likes younger (but still legal) girls. But I don't know. Either way both tracks are top quality, though Teenage Kicks just has the edge for me. |

 14,970 posts | its the same as the song 'teenage kicks'. the song gets all the acclaim ever and has recently been covered by busted (cos of the 'teenage' bit in the name of the song), with the undertones currently lined up for glastonbury next year cos 'teenage kicks' was john peels favourite song.
but its about some bloke perving over a young girl he sees around the place. the incentive is nasty, but it seems somewhat overlooked. regardless, my sharona is a bloody good song |
