| Song lyrics |
You've got the lot to burn
A shelve of pig smotherd cries
Is there a spirit that spits
Upon the exit of signs
Is anybody there?
(Spines in a Row)
These steps keep on growing long
(Spine as an arrow)
Bayonet trials rust propellers await
No, nobody is heard
Rowing sheep smiles for the dead
Nobody is heard
An antiquated home
Afloat with engines on mute
Sui generis ship spined around the yard
Is anybody there?
(Spines in a row)
These craft only multiply
(Spine as an arrow)
At the nape of ruins rust propellers await
No, nobody is heard compass wilting in the wind
Nobody is heard
Rowing sheep smile for the dead
Tansoceanic depth in this earth
In this cenotaph
Lash of one thousand eye brows clicking
Counting the toll
Counting the toll
You've got the lot to burn
A shelve of pig smothered cries
Is there a spirit that spits upon the exit of signs
Is anybody there?
(Spines in a row)
These steps keep on growing long
(Spine as an arrow)
Bayonet trials rust propellers await
No, nobody is heard
compass wilting in the wind
Nobody is heard
rowing sheep smile for the dead
Transoceanic depth in this earth
in this cenotaph
Carpel jets
hit the ground
Carpel jets
hit the ground
Carpel jets
hit the ground
Carpel jets
hit the ground
Lash of one thousand eyebrows clicking
Counting the toll
Counting the toll
Lash of one thousand eyebrows clicking
Counting the toll
Counting the toll...

| Im afraid this song is pretty bad.
I like some things about these "The Mars Volta's"...
But... Experimental can easily get to the point of chaos... As it most certainly did in this song.
Their producer must have been on acid or 3 years old... The mix and sound quality of most of their songs are abysmal.

| Oh, right, This particular song is recorded live isnt it.
Still, the quality of the recording is in immense need of up'ing the awsomeness.... | 02-10-2004 23:29 zacka | 37 posts
| "punctuation is cool" you must have thousands of friends...thousands of friends that u get together with every friday night in your mom's basement and have spelling b's because that's "cool" right?
well u suck balls the mars volta is genious and ya they were most likely on acid when they made that song that's why it's so great douche bag. Led Zeppellin was high when they made Stairway to heaven which is one of the best song ever made. So go play dungeons and dragons or something butt pirate | 02-10-2004 23:34 zacka | 37 posts

| Dunkship of Lanterns is not a Live recording.. it is song 5 on the DITC, not live.. you must have heard a bootleg or something, either way it is amazing.. the Mars Volta is known to play different versions of a song on every concert, once they placed Cicatriz for more thatn 40 minutes when originally, (Pre-Deloused) was no longer than 5 minutes.

This song kicks serious ASS
The bongos bring in a different sound, breaking them away from atd-i and the traditional sounds.
Also, Omars guitar riffs are amazing (as usual).
I agree that Omar is the Hendrix of the modern age. He is just amazing, and astoundingly creative.
I can hardly wait until Frances the Mute comes out. And btw, does anyone know the release date? | 30-11-2004 05:50 AudioDrive | 328 posts
| Gold Standard Labs set a release date on March 22nd, however it is only the vinyl version of the LP, the CD will be released through Universal... no release date yet | 12-12-2004 23:17 New_Born | 1,552 posts

| The mix and sound quality of most of their songs are abysmal.
Who gives a s*it about quality, this type of music is about a constant push on musical, vocal, instramental and artistic boundries.
it's not about quality, it's about the music.
most of todays "artists" have forgotten that talent is not just a vocal performance, talent is being able to do things with music that other people cannot do, and not just by pushing up a switch on a mix bourd but by doing things there and then in a performnce, when your able to play a 1hour set and only sing 2 songs and still have 40000 people worship you, THAT is real talent, THAT is real progessive rock and That is The Mars Volta | 21-12-2004 03:45 AudioDrive | 328 posts

| The people comenting that ATDI and Sparta are better than TMV should stop saying shit in here untill you finish the 2nd grade. Don't worry though there's still special seats reserved for you in the Britaney Spears section. Plenty room there for you to type useless, tasteless music banter. | 12-01-2005 05:36 fluxy | 36 posts
| um, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. and personally i like atd-i and sparta better than tmv (too weird for me) and i can say it wherever i want. you bash those 2 bands on their forum things like crazy.. and people don't care what you think when you're arrogant about it. | 10-03-2005 14:50 Alex2385 | 1 posts

| i understand this as cerpin taxt is awaiting in a K-19 sub to his journey to the E.S.P to end... he hears voices that aren't there, he begins hallucinating again
he sees a giant circle that he has painted while he was alive
in the end he reaches the Eria Tarka of Dr Wolfram Tarant | 14-03-2005 07:32 Lillkwist | 5 posts
