PHANTOM: Passarino - Go away for the trap
Is set
And waits for its prey
You have come here
In pursuit of your deepest urge
In pursuit of that wish which till now
Has been silent
Silent
I have brought you
That our passions that may fuse and merge
In your mind you’ve already succumbed to me
Drop all defences
Completely succumb to me
Now you are here with me
No second thoughts
You’ve decided
Decided
Past the point of no return
No backward glances
Our games of make-believe are at an end
Past a thought of “if” or “when”
No use resisting
Abandon thought and let the dream descend
What raging fires shall flood the soul
What rich desire unlocks its door
What sweet seduction lies before us
Past the point of no return
The final threshold
What warm unspoken secrets
Will we learn
beyond the point of no return
CHRISTINE: You have brought me
To that moment when words run dry
To that moment when speech disappears
Into silence
Silence
I have come here
Hardly knowing the reason why
In my mind I'’ve already imagined
Our bodies entwining
Defenceless and silent
Now I am here with you
No second thoughts
I'’ve decided
Decided
Past the point of no return
No going back now
Our passion-play has now at last begun
Past all thought of right or wrong
One final question
How long should we two wait before we're one?
When will the blood begin to race
The sleeping bud burst into bloom
When will the flames of lust consume us
BOTH: Past the point of no return
The final threshold
The bridge is crossed
So stand and watch it burn
We'’ve passed the point of no return
PHANTOM: Say you'’ll share with me
One love, one lifetime
Lead me, save me from my solitude
Say you'’ll want me
With you here
Beside you
Anywhere you go
Let me go too
Christine that’s all I ask of…

YEAH! This is definitely one of the best songs in the movie! I must unfortunately say that I haven't seen the stage version ( though I must say I truly an deeply want to).
Anyway, I know this song by heart . I sing TPOTO songs all the time. Love this musical. | 19-02-2007 15:27 RixSilver | 2 posts

Chills go down my spine everytime I head this song! One of my absolute favorites ever! The way they build up the suspension is absolutely fantastic!
I still like "The Phantom of the Opera" more though. It has the same sexy undertone, and builds up the suspension in a similar way, and it's a bit scary too! | 09-04-2007 17:38 Zandre | 2 posts

I agree wholeheartedly! Best song in the whole movie. I watched the actual opera when i was very little, so i can't remember much except that the phantom was really scary BEST SONG! Definitely sexy. Only down point is that if you check carefully, Gerard Butler is about 16 years older than Emmy Rossum. I'm referring to the 2004 movie. Being about the same age (as Emmy), i find it a little disturbing, yet.... well, you get the picture. Basically, it rocks. | 02-08-2007 07:40 hecarriesme | 236 posts

I love how everything about this song only creates tension... the chords are frightningly dissonant at times, which is always pleasing to me... I think "safe-sounding" major chords are so overrated... | 05-08-2007 01:34 hecarriesme | 236 posts
| Oops... I guess I overrated this song. Oh well. It's fabulous, but I do have to admit that this song really shows Gerard Butler's incompetence at playing the Phantom... he was almost perfect for the part... it's just true that his voice didn't have the range, tone, and depth it should've to play such a challenging part. Kudos to the man for sure, though... most guys couldn't do half as much as he did. | 05-08-2007 01:36 hecarriesme | 236 posts
| P.S. to the person who pointed out the difference in age between Gerard and Emmy... that was intentional. The Phantom was supposed to be about old enough to be Christine's father... which makes his whole obsession-with-Christine even more creepy and pedophile-ish. |
