The group was founded in late 1969 in Dublin, Ireland, by Lynott, guitarist Eric Bell, electric organist Eric Wrixon and drummer Brian Downey. Wrixon was gone by early 1970, and tiring of the limited possibilities in Dublin, the group relocated to London in 1971. Signing a contract with Decca Records, Thin Lizzy's first hit came in 1973, with "Whiskey in the Jar", a version of a traditional Irish song. (Metallica scored a major hit with their 1998 cover version, featured on their album Garage...

you have to think in the main thing, and that's why we are in this page,

it's a great Liric. back in the day in irland it was a folk song so imagine all the good times was making that song on a bar or something in taht time, it' was so great that other people start to cover it beacause it cause some kind of feeling, differnet in every singer, even on us.!

remember taht metalica plays metal that's a differente flow
thin lizzy play it in a nother type of rock

now i want you to lisen the song in his folk version, then you'll see what is all about

but you totally cam say, that metallica take the version from thin lizzy, but the performance in metal vocals is outrigthus, thin lizzy sing it more like drunk like it was the original... so is kind of cool too.

at the end it just interpretation.
