Titiyo Jah was born on July 23, 1967 in Stockholm, Sweden. Her half-sister is Neneh Cherry. She fronted her own band in 1987 & signed to Telegram in 1989. In 1990, she released her self-titled debut album, N°3 in Sweden, it came out in the United States the following year. "My Body Says Yes" was a hit in North America, "Man On The Moon" & "After The Rain" have been hits in Sweden.
In 1992, her daughter Femi was born. Titiyo came back in 1993 with her cover of Aretha Franklin's "Never Let Me Go", from her second album This Is... : remixes were popular in the London club scene. Her third album Extended came out on Diesel in 1997, including the single "Josefin Dean".
In 2001, Titiyo's fourth album Come Along came out on Diesel & WEA, the title-track became a hit. Produced by Joakim Berg & Peter Svensson, the album was successful in Sweden & the title-track was a hit in France, Germany, Switzerland & the Netherlands. The second single "1989" wasn't as successful as its predecessor.
In 2004, the compilation Best Of Titiyo came out on Warner & the single "Lovin' Out Of Nothing" was a hit in Sweden in 2005.
In 2008, Titiyo performed vocals on Kleerup's "Longing For Lullabies". It reached N°20 in Denmark & N°10 in Sweden. Titiyo's fifth album Hidden came out on Sheriff in November 2008. The singles have been "Stumble To Fall" & "Awakening".
