It's not only Maynard man, don't forget about Danny, Adam and Justin =P There's something different about this song that any other Tool song... maybe it's Maynard's voice when the song starts off.
This song, along with the entire album, is the best work Tool's done so far | 0 @ 23-04-2006 15:00 Slifer | 125 posts
| Didn't mean to take away from the other three, but when you think The Pot, you think Maynard's vocals. | 0 @ 29-04-2006 19:38 Maynards12inch | 2 posts

This song is so unoriginal for Tool it's not even funny. It's good, but they are definitely re-using some stuff. I know I've heard that bass line before...perhaps in Parabol?

| This was the first song on the new album i hear. When I heard him start singing at the beggining I was like. "O god, Tool turned gay on me!" and then the bass kicks in with more vocals and then I was like "Holy shit thats awsome!" how can you not love it? | 0 @ 22-05-2006 13:11 Mashakos | 5 posts

| I have to admit that I am probably not the biggest TOOL fan here. This was the first CD that I purchased by TOOL. However this song kicks so much ass, that I had to own it after I heard it on the radio only one or two times. I am somewhat familiar with their material as we have a pretty good radio station here and I may as well plug them..........93X(KXXR 93.7). So I have heard a lot of their songs. This is their best song in my opinion, however, I have not heard every song. | 0 @ 31-05-2006 05:04 Slifer | 125 posts
| Nah.. this isn't their best song.. it's not even the best of 10,000 Days. Catchiest, definately, and it has potential to be a huge single, but it's probably 3rd or 4th off the album and in the lower teens of all-time Tool songs.
1. 10,000 Days
2. Rosetta Stoned
3. The Pot

damn damn damn haha thats all I can say. Ive been a Tool Follower since Undertow and I must say i was only 9 when that cd came out and My level of interest n the band has evolved with every album just liek they have and i must say as well. This is one of their best. Because several reasons. The Lyrics are clean. not mixed down with distortion liek 90 percent of his vocals are. You get to hear his voice perfectly the way It was inteded to be. And no this bass line was never used before everything is completely original. Just a little message to the dumb ass up there that said otherwise. so ya this is a long reply peace. | 0 @ 19-08-2006 21:37 ScreamLikeStoic | 2 posts
| Honestly-- this song is why I started listening to Tool. I'd never really been into them until now... :/ Although, I will agree with the person who said this isn't the best song on the album. | 0 @ 16-10-2006 20:15 rakatan | 6 posts

This song is beyond incredible. I really and truly love it. The bass riffs are beyond amazing, and the vocals rock. The lyrics are awesome, sticking it to the hypocrites and lawyers. And kangaroos... But that doesn't matter right now. The song rocks hardcore, the new album rocks. It's a good thing. | 0 @ 27-11-2006 01:31 StealthMaestro | 5 posts

Good song... i gotta say i didnt like it at first because its a bit tough to hear what hes saying at first... but nonetheless it does the typical tool thing where it grows on you due to its pure awesomeness. I think its tool's side of the argument with that asshat from "message to harry manback". What do you think? | 0 @ 07-12-2006 07:30 StealthMaestro | 5 posts
| let me tell you how much this song grows on you:
when i first listened to it, it sucked
the first time i posted for this song, it was alright
this time, im here to say this is the greatest tool song ever. maynards vocals are like none i have ever heard before. Great song. | 0 @ 07-01-2007 03:17 MaynardManson | 3 posts
| As Tool being one of the greatest bands of all time I'de say that anyone who appreciates good music should own at least one Tool CD or AT LEAST have heard enough songs to get a better view of the band then what you get from just listening to radiohits like; The Pot.
I think that people who liked The Pot really should listen to other Tool songs!
It doesn't matter wich one, because they are all so undescibly great and! This band has put a new meaning to any positive adjective in every languish ever spoken on the face of this earth.
Allthough it's a great song and I really enjoy the sound and the feeling it brings, it is SO different to any other song Tool has produced!
I know that this is a common opinion among Tool fans, and I know that it is oftenly repeated but it's sad and great that The Pot is usually the first song newcomers to Tool hear.
It's sad because they could easily get the wrong opinion and view of the bands work. And therefor get dissapointed when hearing other material by Tool.
It is great because they then have achived what any musiclover must(in my opinion.)
That being listening to Tool.
(If this message seem to be confusing or just plain weird please reply, English is not my native languish you see and I am just happy to get help improving it! So if you can see any word or sentence wich could be corrected, do not feel stupid to contact me! Thanks in advance.)
Btw.. Sorry for such a huge post! Once again Tool and this song ROCKS! | 0 @ 15-01-2007 18:54 dxire | 1 posts

The lyrics actually go
Who are you to wave your finger?
Ya’ must have been out your head.
Eye hole deep in muddy waters.
You practically raised the dead.
Rob the grave, to snow the cradle.
Then burn the evidence down.
Soapbox, house of cards, and glass,
So don’t go tossin’ your stones around.
You must have been high.
You must have been high.
You must have been.
Foot in mouth, and head up asshole.
Whatcha talkin’ ’bout?
Difficult to dance ’round this one
’til you pull it out, boy!
You must have been, so high.
You must have been, so high.
Steal, borrow, refer, save your shady inference.
King Guru done hung the juror with the innocent.
Now you’re weeping shades of chosen indigo
Got lemon juice up in your…EYE!
When you pissed all over my black kettle
You must have been HIGH, HIGH
You must have been HIGH, HIGH
Who are you to wave your finger?
So full of it.
Eyeballs deep in muddy waters
Fuckin’ hypocrite.
Liar, lawyer, mirror, show me.
What’s the difference?
Kangaroo done hung the guilty with the innocent.
NOW!!
You’ll weep or, change the chosen into gold.
Got lemon juice up in your high eye.
When you pissed all over my black kettle
You musta been!
So who are you to wave your finger?
Who are you to wave your mighty fingers at me?
You must, have been, out your, mind!
Reefer chased off indigo
Trapped without a reason
Reefer chased off indigo
Liar, lawyer,
Mirror for ya,
What’s the difference?
Kangaroo be stoned
He’s guilty as the government
NOW!!
Will you weep or, change the chosen into gold
Got lemon juice up in your, EYE!!
EYE!!
Now when you pissed all over my black kettle.
You musta been HIGH, HIGH, HIGH, HIGH.
Eyeballs deep in muddy waters
Your’re balls deep in muddy waters.
Ganja Police, you must, have been, out your MIND!!!!
