AboutTyler Hilton got his start in music early in life. His father brought music to him by teaching him three chords on an electric guitar. He made his public debut by singing the songs of his first major influence, Elvis Presley. At his first professional gig his fee was paid in sandwiches. What makes Tyler Hilton an original, refreshing artist separating himself from nearly every other singer, songwriter, and guitarist who comes with the voice of a ravaged old pro, is the fact that he does not come from Chicago or the blues-drenched south. He hails from the sunny, laid-back desert city of Palm Springs. Another interesting fact which separates him from the masses is that he released his first album at only seventeen years of age. Besides his remarkable singing and guitar playing abilities, Hilton has been active in theatre, having conquered such lead roles as Danny Zuko in Grease and D'artagnan in Three Musketeers. He has studied classical and jazz guitar as well as piano, and considers the piano as one of his favorite instruments. It's his distinct, original songwriting and singing talent which has garnered him attention from not only TV, radio, and newspapers, but a burgeoning and loyal fandom. When Los Angeles' rock station KLOS morning team, Mark and Brian, heard Tyler Hilton play over the telephone, a relationship developed over the following months that lead to a personal guest appearance on their show on May 16, 2000. After being a regular feature in Coachella Valley coffeehouses, he stepped up to larger venues and was soon filling those as well. With school and endless hours devoted to the completion of his debut album, Hilton had little time to perform live, but he soon was back with a few gigs in the Los Angeles and Orange Co. areas. Tyler Hilton says the he really does not know how to classify his music. He has had so many influences from so many genres of music, that they just kind of get mixed up in his mind. When he comes up with a song, there is always a little of each influence blended in. "Up Late Again," from his debut self-titled album, has a simple melody and semi-jazzy chords which were totally influenced by a rank Sinatra Capital Records Box Set which he had been listening to often at the time he wrote the song. He didn't even realize it until after the song was done and he could not believe how easily he had been influenced. It was really crazy while the debut album was being put together. Hilton had no idea going into the project how much hard work actually went into the making of an album. Although it was so much work over the many hours and many headaches, he had never had so much fun in his entire life and found a true reward for the effort. He feels that everyone should release an album once in their life just to see what it feels like. Tyler Hilton finds songs when life does not treat him so well, when life is good he can find a song there as well. Those who have enjoyed his songs will agree that there is pleasure to be found in the lyrics and music which come from Hilton. It matters not where the inspiration for the songs comes from, it's the end product which Tyler Hilton presents as other artists three times his age would find impossible to muster.
