This entire album has impressed be and this song is just amazing! The lyrics are beautifully written by Aaron Lewis and he shows his deep passion for his wife. I remember when he played this song at Mohegan Sun Cabaret at his acoustic concerts. It has been my favorite song for the longest time since I've heard it last year. This song should be #1 on LSI ranking | 21-08-2008 15:12 PuttStaindFreak | 7 posts

Once again, the most loved and hated band of all time has come out with another surpriser. The band shows no sign of slowing down, and the progression is no illusion on this album. Just when we thought Aaron's voice couldn't get any more talented, The Illusion of Progress proved us wrong. In almost every song, he shows off his voice that can do pretty much anything. And if you thought Mike Mushok didn't have talent, see this album as his message to you saying, "Think again buddy." He kicks ass would be a good summary for his performance on this one.
When I compare this album to chap V I have mixed opinions. On one hand, it is way better because of the technical aspects of the album. However, I do feel that chap V was a far better mix of the Staind of yesterday and the Staind of today. On the The Illusion of Progress, every track is radio friendly. On chap V, we still saw some kick your ass radio UNfriendly songs like "Please" and "Cross to Bear". This does not happen on The Illusion of Progress.
So honestly, for us die hard fans, this album gets 9/10. For the fans still waiting for the return of Dysfunction and Break the Cycle, you will have to wait a little longer, and give this one a 1/10.
Best song:
A little bit of the old Staind mixed with a bit of the new= "Breakaway." With instrumentals that send chills down your spine, and vocals that make you drift away, and a tad of that old anger that we still ponder on, this one is the most satisfying track on the album.
Worst song:
"Tangled up in you" is just lame. If you're expecting a chilling, emotional melody like "Epiphany", think again. This is more like a Kindergarten tune that Pedro the Music man would play to kids who wish their daddy would come watch their ball game. | 05-11-2008 19:48 Staind1412343 | 60 posts
| Ok I was a little harsh on Tangled Up in You,it's not that bad. But possibly the worst off the album, depending on what you're looking for.
Also, maybe old fans giving it 1/10 is a bit harsh. Songs like Save Me, Break Away and This is It might push it up to a 4/10 for them. |
