Yannick Noah was born on May 16, 1960 in Sedan, France. His father Zacharie was a professional footballer from Cameroon & his mother Marie-Claire was a teacher from France. At 3, his family left France & moved to Yaoundé, in Cameroon. There, Yannick discovered his 2 passions : reggae & tennis. At 10, he became a champion. Encouraged by American tennis ace Arthur Ashe, Yannick flew to France & became professional.
At 17, he won his first championship in Wimbledon. In 1983, he won Roland-Garros & French people started to love him. He stopped professional tennis in the early 90's. In 1991, Yannick released "Saga Africa", sung during Davis Cup & summer hit the same year. His album Black & What was released the following year & Yannick went on a successful tour. In 1996, France won Fed Cup thanks to him. In 2000, the album Yannick Noah, recorded in France & in Cameroon, was a success & the song "Simon Papa Tara" was a tribute to Yannick's grandfather. Yannick is the ambassador of 2 associations, "Les Enfants De La Terre", created with his mother & "Fête Le Mur", to help poor children. Yannick succeeded his musical reconversion with 2 albums : Live 2002 & Pokhara in 2003.
Yannick has 5 children : Joachim & Yelena (with Cécilia), Elyjah & Jénayé (with Heather) & Joao-Luca (with Isabelle). In 2006, Yannick came back with his album Charango, including "Donne-Moi Une Vie" & "Te Quiero".
